Do you agree with Belle's rant to Kunta?

After his foot is cut off and he wakes up he is defeated and wants to die. When Belle has the boots made for him and tries to put them on him, he kicks his feet up and she rants to him that he is not a warrior and that slaves working in the felid are strong and warriors.

I just kept thinking to myself that she didn't know what all he had been through up to that point. It makes sense to me that he would want to give up since he was born into freedom and she was born into slavery. He knew that he would never be free again and would rather die than work the rest of his life getting nowhere. I kind of think she was being harsh but then yet she was speaking from what she had seen.
