The logic of people who made this seems to have been that if they throw in some stuff that seems more authentically “African” in 2016, everyone would think that the remake was more historically accurate.

In reality, it just exchanges 2016 people’s perceptions for 1970s ones.

I’m not a viewer that demands historical accuracy. I just think it’s funny how many people who supposedly understand this is not historical, nonetheless are ready to accept selected parts as if it were. And when people like us point out the historical inconsistencies, they tell us it is not supposed to be accurate, lol.
