Felt Bad for the Xmen

I think this film is great, maybe Marvel's best imo. Anyway, I just recently rewatched and couldn't help but feel terrible for Wolverine, Xavier, and the rest of the Xmen. They saved the world multiple times over many movies and most of the world still hates mutants or at least wants to eradicate them from existence. Additionally, after all of their great deeds, Wolverine and Xavier are buried in unmarked graves in the middle of nowhere. Just made me think of the previous movies and how everything ended up being a lost cause and sad ending for our heroes.

Yes. Logan was definitely made with that intent. No happy ending here.

I think it’s more realistic this way. How many good deeds go unnoticed, how many good men die nameless to the majority. Only in movies do the good guys always come out on top.

I don't think the ending is all sad, though. There are the kids, the next generation of mutants, who will make the world a better place. Wolverine dies in this film with that hope rekindled, and I think that's the point of the picture. So, it's bittersweet to me. Yeah, things go badly for Logan, but they were never saving the world for themselves or for glory, anyway, right? It was for the innocents.

That's true, but the X-Men are never recognized for their great deeds towards the humans that they sought to fight for or save. Instead, they are still reviled as much as they were as in X-men 2000.

It's a mixed bag for happiness for sure.

This film is so incredibly nihilistic. Such a bitter send off for our heroes.

and sadly people love it

This movie finally did a good job with a theme that permeates the X-Men comic books. Mutants are hated in society.

The X-Men franchise just kept repeating the same shit and never did anything to rise about forgettable comic book slop.

Thats bittersweet indeed

It could only end this way

"most of the world still hates mutants or at least wants to eradicate them from existence"

Huh?
