Mac and the disk (possible spoiler)

You want to get rid of it eh? So break it, crush it, burn it, shred it, but throwing it in the deep fat fryer at at restaurant with cops all around? Please! I can hear the cook now - "Oh what's this? Somebody tried to dispose of a disk in my french fries!"

I assume it was for some melodramatic effect, but that was one of those truly lame moments that makes one wonder what the hell the writers were thinking.

Considering that when confronted with older media most people will copy onto newer formats I don't know why they have been left on floppy discs by Marcus at his home. Taking evidence like that out of the station is surely a no no or at least needed serious permission or handed over to the TECHNICAL GEEK department as in other TV shows. Most convenient will of course be a USB stick and as the discs may have a major relevance to a NEW part of an older case it should now be on a main station available to those investigating. I am only finished the first episode and can understand that if Marcus is innocent his reaction cannot be as expected or predicted. I do not know if John Simm projected the correct emotions when confronted with his child's death. But we are expected to believe and I can, an experienced policemen who has seen a lot of things could have a very steely personality that nearly prevents displays of emotional breakdown even within their own family set up. Not quite Mr Spock but along that line.
It is a given that these stories will nearly always have a close colleague caught up in either [the secret lover] or [corrupt cop]. It would be interesting to know just how many of our FINEST have been corrupted. We are aware of the exposures as per SERPICO and I am sure so many more similar and our own weeding of the Met and northern police areas. No wonder they get called the FILTH. Police corruption is not a comfortable fact to live with. I would. have serious corruption on the death penalty list if only it still existed.
The floppy disc situation needs looking at and i hope all evidence boxes are as i type being investigated so that out of date media can be updated.
I will await other little niggles. The police men in the crashed van can hardly show Marcus up in a bad light unless they are guilty of setting up the attack on him but we will see that this incident will have NO bearing on the character of the PREY.
