So the First Lady is in on it, right? Or is she just stupid?

With 100 babies in the entire world (at best, since anything could happen during pregnancy) how exactly does she expect to raise a child without people noticing, and questioning where it came from?

When people find out the president's wife is raising one of the 100 babies, that'll be political suicide for her husband since the Lottery will look rigged from the beginning. It probably wouldn't make her the most popular person in the world as well.

So is she on board with the assassination plot, so she could later take a baby and run off to some secluded spot to raise it in peace, knowing her husband wouldn't be willing to give up his life to raise a child with her? Or does she really think she could take a baby from the contest she's running and everyone will be cool with it?

She might spin it as a "miracle".

That's my question exactly. Maybe her desperation is making her delusional?

I will admit, I just don't get it. But then I have no intention of having kids ever, so the desperation for them wouldn't make sense to me I guess...
