I don't understand all of the hate for this show

I don't understand all of the hate for this show. I get that the science is shaky but so what just suspend disbelief for a little while like we do all of the time with entertainment. I checked out the show merely because I'd heard that some of the folks involved with Children of Men were involved and I like it.

It's kind of cliched and some of the actors aren't great but the idea is interesting. Even the uber villain is sort of sympathetic because he really believes that the greater good (ie ensuring the continuation of the species at any cost) justifies his actions. Your thoughts?

That doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy myself once pressed into service...

Science is not shaky, it's opposite of everything that is known, or flat out nonsense. As for suspension of disbelief - I have no problem with it, as long as I have no doubt that participants in the project are also aware of how stupid the show they are doing is and do it sort of tongue in cheek.

This however takes it self seriously, while being really bad. I only watch it as a practice how not to write, how to do a research and so on.

I started watching cause reading the synopses here sounded promising, the chances they dropped, the paths they could've taken but steered clear off, it's just a cowardly mess.

And again, suggesting that infertility will be a downfall of humanity in this overpopulated world is just too painful to hear

I think the show has potential.

Obviously this show is just too complicated for you so don't watch it. We won't miss you or your writing. Maybe you should stick to the Simpsons.

@packerpassion4: To whom did you address the comment?

It was meant for minosveta who did nothing but compalin about the show.

I think it has gotten better as it has progressed. It is fiction so it does not have to be credible only entertaining which it is.

@packerpassion4: I agree. The Lottery and The Strain are my current "guilty pleasures".

I tried watching the strain. Couldn't get into it, the lottery is hard to enjoy,

I tried watching it but I have to admit that I just couldn't get into it. Up until two weeks ago, I was actually forcing myself to watch it and now I don't at all and just come here to see if anything interesting has happened but to me it doesn't seem like much has. I'm okay with suspending reality, being a viewer of a lot of teen shows like Pretty Little Liars, I'm used to that but I just couldn't quite get into this one for some reason.

Save the date: December 31, 2014 is Cassie's big day!!!

Wow, yet another "why all the hate" thread. This show has absolutely nothing to do with Children of Men apart from the basic premise. COM is one of my all-time favourite films but this show was an utter crap.

Fanboy : a person who does not think while watching.
