Reference to Princess Diana "being eliminated"?

In the very beginning of the film, Michael Caine's character asks the guy from Buckingham Palace:

- You work for the Queen?

Gets the reply:

- Yes, in a sense.

He then says:

- Good. I find monarchies so endearing.

The guy asks:

- Why do you find the Monarchy endearing?

He says:

- Well, because it's so vulnerable. You ELIMINATE ONE PERSON, and all of a sudden, the whole world changes.

That last sentence doesn't make much sense in relation to the Monarchy being "endearing". But it does make sense when considering Diana's death, which, some argue, was a murder, ie "elimination". Diana was known and loved throughout the world and her SUDDEN death did have an impact on people, "changing the world".

Diana would never have been queen but rather the King's consort since she was not of royal blood. Out of the whole lot she was the best mother.

The Duke of Windsor was forced to abdicate as king to marry Wally Simpson, a two time American divorcee. I guess you could say he was eliminated.

The main thing is the continuity. "The King is dead, Long Live the King."

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

I can't be bothered to have a sig any-more.
