"Simple songs" was not particularly good

The Simple Songs piece was supposed to be the best known piece of a famous composer. Also, it was supposed to be a rather simple and accessible piece, compared to the more complex music of the composer. I just didn't buy all that. Simple Songs was not catchy enough, nor simple enough, to be widely loved. On the contrary, it was a rather avant-garde piece. The violin melody that started the piece was rather nice, but the strange singing just ruined it. I think the filmmakers should have used some simpler and better tune for this. Or if no good tune was available, then they could have removed the concert scene. In its present form, the concert scene looked kind of ridiculous with all these people sitting in the concert hall having blissful faces as if they were listening to something divine.

I thought the same thing until Sumi Jo performed #3 at the end. That was nothing short of divine, one of the greatest musical pieces in any movie I've ever seen.

I just commented in a similar thread about this, too -- I thought the lyrics were ridiculously daft, like "WTF??" stupid, but the music was utterly beautiful.
