Well intentioned but mostly by-the-numbers

For everything it does right, Jane Wants a Boyfriend also suffers from a somewhat uninspired vibe. The picture has all the trappings of your standard small indie project, one that might debut at a festival to little recognition before slipping into obscurity. It’s worth seeing for the performances from Krause and Dushku, yet a little more innovation and fire on the part of the filmmakers would’ve gone a long way. Jane Wants a Boyfriend is sweet and honest enough, but it would’ve benefited from being something more: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/jane-wants-boyfriend/

I thought it was an outstanding little film. Krause and Dushku were great in it.

yet a little more innovation and fire on the part of the filmmakers would’ve gone a long way.

but it would’ve benefited from being something more:

Those sound like very lazy criticisms, would you care to elaborate?

What exactly do you think this film needed? (besides "a little more innovation" and "something more").

Someone once said of one of my screenplays (which later became a movie) "You needed to make it bigger, but also smaller." Saying lazy criticisms like that serves no one except the blogger wannabe critic writing them.
