** Full of Spoilers!!** Bomb Girls Series/Facing the Enemy Timeline
There are spoilers below, keep reading at your own risk if you have not seen the entire series and the movie.
I'm an American so I'm not as familiar with Canadian WWII history. To help myself out, I did a timeline to get a sense of over how many years the events in the series and movie took place. I thought others might find it helpful as well.
We know at the start of the series that Lorna has been working for long enough to be a supervisor and Marco's father has been imprisoned long enough that he lost his business. My guess is that the first episode of the series is likely set some time between January and July 1941.
Before the Show Begins:
September 1939 - Canada enters WWII
January 1940 - First Canadian troops arrive in the UK
June 1940 - Several hundred Italian-Canadians committed to internment camps
Season 1 - Last episode
December 1941 - Japan bombs the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor (James probably enlists within a couple of weeks of this)
Season 2 - Episode 2
February 1942 - James is deployed the UK
Season 2 - Episode 7
August 1942 - The Dieppe Raid
Season 2 - Episode 10
October 1942 - The sinking of the passenger ferry SS Caribou off Newfoundland
Season 2 - Episode 12 (last episode of series)
Spring and Summer 1942 - Allied forces fight and defeat Gen Rommel in Egypt (The blood drive was conducted specifically to aid Canadian soldiers injured in that campaign)
Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy
Spring 1943 - Joe DiMaggio enlists in the US military, Italian American and Canadians are accepted into the US and Canadian armed forces.
Vera may have been on the the H.M.C.S. Ste Croix, which was sunk in Oct 1943. This occurred not that long after the military opened up to Italian-Canadians paving the way for Marco to join after Vera's death.
Darling, I am trouble of the most spectacular kind!
