Worst cgi I have ever seen

It was like some made for television movie.

"You'll see better effects on a Nintendo Game Boy" as Mark Kermode said.

The helicopter scene was the worst it was like that sega mega drive game from the early 90s called Thunderblade.

Virginal nerds again.

Agree. First indication of poor CGI was the scene when the 3 marine copters were landing. No air disturbance on the ground(dust flying around) and the union jack didn't move even with 3 choppers landing! It was still an OK movie IMO!

The helicopter (the one you actually see landing) was not CGI, it was a real helicopter and it actually landed. The only thing they modified for the movie was the exterior appearance of the helicopter.

I saw the photos from the actual filming but in those photos only 1 helicopter was used and you are right that it was "CGI" into a marine blackhawk. However, in the actual movie 3 helicopters were landing at the same time and again the CGI was pretty poor in my opinion as there was no ground air and dust disturbance and the union jack, flying at full mast nearby, was not moving.

Yes, I did say it was one helicopter, the one you actually see landing (the close-up one). And they either filmed the same helicopter 3 times (at least) for the 2 other ones, or added them in the shots (I think they probably took different shots of the helicopter for the 2 other ones). And about the ground air and dust disturbance, as I mentioned it was a real helicopter landing, so that's just the way it was, not much dust. Keep in mind that this was filmed at Somerset House and they host different events there, so the courtyard is probably kept pretty clean. And the flag was definitely moving.

Personally I liked the CGI and special effects, I think they were pretty well done and realistic.

Go watch A Sound of Thunder and then get back to me.

And Mark Kermode is a penis.

No Dana Goldberg for you  - in loving memory of BrianReass

reply

It really is horrible. You could get better effects using a bucket of water and a toy helicopter you bought at the mall.

reply

indeed

even duel 1971 by steven spielberg, a tv movie, had better explosions than this movie.
duel is a masterpiece btw.

reply

Well, the CG was a slight improvement from Olympus.

reply

I guess you've never seen any of the Sharknado movies or Lavalantula then ?

so bollocks is bad, but dogs bollocks is good?

reply

sharknado was a made for tv movie and this was major motion picture and should had better cji than sharknado

it's never Joan Van Ark- Marge Simpsons

reply

It looked good enough to get it's point across, it looked way better then made for TV CGI. Ever watched Babylon 5? Lol

well, you coul simply draw an explosion to get your point across, so that's not saying much.

reply

Don't bring Babylon 5 into this. Still the best TV sci fi ever

Are you really going to draw comparisons between a 2016 theatrical movie (with an estimated 60 million dollar budget) and a television series from 1994, when CGI (on television at least) was in its infancy?

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!
