OK, it was pretty bad, but could it have been good?

OK, this was pretty bad.

Obviously the near zero budget required them to structure the screenplay around as few actors as possible and with no sets, so maybe there was one too many solo action girl scenes with the jumping and the fighting and the fighting and the jumping. And some of the effects were cheesy. And so on.

But the core of the narrative was kind of interesting, or at least the twist -- space-faring humans from the past try to jump through a wormhole to get to a new planet and end up back on Earth in the future, after the apocalypse they were trying to escape.

It's not a bad story premise and you could certainly build on it to make it more sophisticated.

You could add a conspiracy where "they" know the wormhole leads to a livable future Earth, possibly having planned it all from the time the ships were built, including stockpiling key resources for the post-apocalyptic return in the future.

The survivors (mutant and human) could be humans deliberately abandoned when the ships left, their "ships" never being built but the resources secretly cached for the humans who return in the future.

The people in the know want to kill everyone they find and get to the resource cache as quickly as possible so they can suppress the knowledge that they basically killed thousands of people to hoard supplies.

The world could be expanded to include the remnants of underground bunkers used by the survivors.

Anyway, it was a bad movie and maybe my ideas are no better, but the funky time-travel premise is kind of interesting and seems to have a lot more possibilities.

I think the best thing to be said about it that is has Danielle Chuchran in it. She tries hard in her part.. not alot to work with, but she makes a go with it.

I just saw her in another flick on amazon (much better but still a total 'B' movie)... its called: "Curse of the Dragon Slayer" on amazon, but i see it as "SAGA: Curse of the Shadow Cabal" on IMDB.. whatever it is called it is -way- better than "Survivor" and worth checking out if you like Danielle at all.
