The moment this movie was lost

"They used particle accelerators to try a stabilize Earth's orbit."

It was then that i realized I would stretch out and take a 2 hour nap instead. Something tells me I made the right decision.

reply

yep-like ''any science talk is good enough for the idiots who're going to watch this crap''

reply

You are right about the movie,
but wrong about the particle accelerator thing ... ion drive is essentially a particle accelerator.

reply

I love how people dump on a "fictional" movie becuase of some bad movie science.
Have you ever watched an episode of Star Trek? Or even Dr Who?? Those shows
are filled with crap that doesnt exist in real science.

It's a *beep* movie, get over yourself......

reply

You must be part of the production team. Tell them next time to hire a college kid who majors in science. Pretty sure they'll only charge two 6 packs of PBR or Bud light.

reply

Me??
I never even watched this movie. What about my statement would suggest that I care anything about this movie, for all I know its the worst movie ever made. That
doesn't change the fact that people put down movies for the worst possible reasons.
You take a fantasy scifi movie that is full of nonsense science, but then has to somehow
make sense?? Like as if teleporters on Star Trek are any different than anything on any
low budget crapfest movie. It defies logic.

reply

So then we're to believe that you just randomly came along the forum here just RANDOMLY reading titles to argue with people?
Star trek explains the MATTER TRANSPORTATION, this movie used things that we DO know about and it fked up because it's NOT accurate. If it had used gibberish words for explaining what they attempted to do, IE " they tried a new process of blah blah blah" , then there'd be nothing to argue about.

reply

Accurate science only matters if it forms the core of the movie (like 'the core').
In this movie it was just a throwaway line to say "the earth was broke so we left"
