What are they smoking ?

In the beginning of the movie I noticed Gummi sniffing something up his nose which I don't believe was cocaine/heroine ? I am not familiar so I don't know.

Then you see it more clearly at 48:37, when a young man comes in Gummis house after he rescued the dying brother ..

Just what in the world are the smoking ?
Does anyone know ? It looks like a cigarette , but somehow there is a sniffing process ...
