It didn't really have much in common with Gattaca. The film keeps being compared to any other movie involving a dystopian future. Before its release, critics kept comparing it to 1984, which it also doesn't resemble.

And IMO Gattaca should not even be discussed in their presence.

Agreed, i kept getting Gattaca vibes, the difference is Gattaca actually had depth to it and characters you cared about.

Precisely, this reminded me of Gattaca through and through. Except Gattaca was interesting and entertaining... Equals is snail paced, snore fest with terrible main actors. Kristen Stewart cannot act - - - she is and will be forever riding on the Twilight coattails. I hate her, I hate this movie.
shareAside from both movies being set in the future, I don't see how they are alike at all. One is about suppressing emotions, the other is about class divisions generated by notions of genetic superiority.
Genetics doesn't play a role in Equals.
With that in mind, how is Equals a rip off of Gattaca?
I'm not really sure it's ever clear in the minds of people who create these 'rip-off' threads what they actually mean by ripping something off or how any particular film is ripping off any other particular film.
