Wait a minute...he gave her a cheat pass!!

Josh told Liza that he didn't want her inexperience to get in the way and gave her that one night only hall pass or whatever you call it so she did what he allowed. These two are clearly end game and I am so over them. I wish they'd stop dangling a potential Charles/Liza courtship in out faces. Either give them a fair shot or don't. The latter two are the runaway favorite pairing for viewers yet the writers still don't want to take the plunge. Either do it or don't so we can move on from the excessively drawn out love triangle.

I thought that, too . . . he gave her the free pass for sex with someone else, but he didn't want to know about it. When he showed up without warning her, he saw her with someone else - that was his fault. Yet he accuses her of being a liar and cheater?

I agree with both of you. That scene at the end made me hate Josh, not Liza.

And what's funny is, Josh cheated on his younger writer girlfriend with Liza. Remember when he snuck Liza out of his apartment through the window when his girlfriend showed up?

Josh is a hypocrite.

reply

Thank You! I was just thinking about this. He totally cheated on that girl with Liza and has lied before too. I'm tired of them painting Josh as this martyr for putting up with Liza's lies. You already knew what the deal was when you guys got back together for like the 3rd time around, so you don't get to be upset with her for it when you choose to stay with her inspite of everything.

If he wanted a complicated free relationship, he should have stayed with the other girl, instead of his "all in" *beep* She's been honest with him about a lot of things this season. She didn't want a baby, she was middle of a divorce and wasn't sure about remarrying and Josh was going way too fast this season.

I disliked when Liza had her revelation in the bathroom in the season finale. The viewrrs already knew she loved him, because Liza had already said it a few times before. It was nothing new. How does that fix their issues? How does this move the story forward in any way? What would have been more interesting was if they had a real conversation and still decided to part ways in the end because of it. Then both of them could figure things out on their own for the following season, Liza can try it with Charles, and if they still end up together in the end, then fine, but this time it's for good.

reply

Dang, you nailed exactly how I felt, J-Jams.

Especially the part if they would have talked and went their separate ways. It would have moved the story more along.

I'm gonna be honest, her really giving it a try with Charles would probably be the end of Josh. There is something about Charles and her that when they're together, (corney as this sounds) you're watching two people who are meant to be together. With everything they have in common, their chemistry, their love for books, the way his kids love her already... It just feels right.

reply

And don't forget Berlin! This is why it would be hard for me to be with someone much older or younger-- you don't have the same cultural references.

I forget what the deal was when Josh slept with that writer- were he and Liza fully back together? He cheated on her another time as well early in their relationship.

And yeah he did give her a cheat pass. I guess it was more for a one night stand than someone for whom she appears to have feelings, but still...he didn't lay the ground rules nor did he give her any indication that he was going to propose. I agree that they're trying to make Josh into this martyr.

No, he was in a relationship with the writer and him and Liza had sex and his girlfriend showed up at his place and he told Liza to hide and he got her to leave through his fire escape and then he opened his bedroom door to his girlfriend like nothing happened.

And you're right, he slept with that blonde ex I think, but him and Liza were not exclusive or got their signals mixed up about what was going on between them. Could be wrong about that, though.

Also, last season ended the exact same way.. kiss with Charles. Then they build up all this tension all season only for her to declare that she loves Josh after all.

reply

Wow you worded this way better than I ever could have! I completely agree with you. The ending was disappointing and it honestly closes the doors to both Charles and Josh. I'm so sick of them breaking up in every season finale and getting back together later. If you break up that many times in the real world, it's probably not going to work out long term.

Hopefully the writing next season will be a bit better and Liza will realize Charles is the right person for her. Josh never made any sense!

Oh thank god! I read the FB comments on the Younger FB page before here and all were boohooing for Josh. Only one comment out of 300 mentioned the pass and it had been mostly ignored. I was beginning to think I was the only one that remembered that lol!

I personally want Liza and Charles together. I know Josh loves her and she loves him. But they just don't seem right for each other at all.

reply

I was one of those who didn't remember the pass. What episode was that and why did he say it? I don't get that 'she was inexperienced.'

reply

It was in episode 7 this past season. Re-watch it ;-)

reply

I was thinking that too. I think he expected her to use it for a one night stand type situation rather than for someone she works with but he didn't put any limits on it at the time.

I have only just managed to get up to date on this show! New viewer!

Couldn't agree more though! Josh is a hypocrite! And him pressuring Liza to have a baby was pissing me off too! He knew the situation!

I love her with Charles, and I hope they give them a shot! It's annoying seeing them edging the relationship, and then have her go back to Josh. It just doesn't work!
