Good, but I have my gripes

I just watched this movie on Netflix and overall, it was good. But there were some things that really ground my gears about it and made it less enjoyable than it could've been.

1. The middle act really infuriated me because both Naomi and Ely were acting incredibly selfish. Naomi for breaking up her lifelong friendship with Ely over a guy she clearly didn't really care that much about and Ely for ending their lifelong friendship over a guy he barely knew and with whom he shared zero chemistry with. Plus (and I hope not to come off as a dick for saying this) I didn't find Bruce (the one they were fighting over) was very attractive or charismatic. He's not ugly by any means, but he's nowhere near attractive or appealing enough to believably break up two close friends.

2. (SPOILER ALERT) In the end, Naomi ends up with Gabriel while Ely ends up with Bruce. That would've made for a heartwarming ending (especially when combined with Naomi and Ely both admitting to being equally selfish and awful to each other and making up). But I didn't feel either couple shared that much chemistry together (though this was stronger with Ely and Bruce).

Other than that, I felt the movie was pretty good and its' flaws were hindered due to Victoria Justice and Pierson Forde giving good performances and sharing a lot of best friend chemistry together.

well, real people DO the things these two did.
kiss your best friend's new boyfriend, break rules in the heat of the moment.

you may not think B2 was crazy hot, but maybe that's what E liked about him?
who knows. everyone has their own version of cute. Ely does say that their four month anniversary was a first for him. they are growing up. E & B2 did both like comic books.. probably to show us they did have common interests.

i agree, things did happen kind of quickly, but they only have limited time to move the story along.

was kind of like "will & grace, the movie".
fun. surprised at the so-so rating.

I felt it was a good, interesting story, but had some pacing issues that made it seem really long. Because of this the ending happened really abruptly when they both kind of shrugged and decided to be friends again.

We'll have to agree to disagree on not finding Bruce 2 "attractive" enough (to merit the relationship issues).

He may not be as physically "hot" as Ely but in the "real world", he would be a catch. He's cute, seems to come from a decent family (dentist father, I think?) and is relatively serious about his Uni education. I'd pick a guy like that (to take seriously in a relationship) rather than some drop-dead hot dude who just parties around all the time and not take his life seriously. Not hating on Ely, but Bruce 2 would be a bigger catch (for me) than him (Ely).

And yes, Naomi was somehow being selfish. She could have just told Ely the truth about his falling for him. The dude was totally in the dark the entire time. Way to go ruining their relationship by prioritising your personal pride. If she only sat down with him and put all their cards on the table, all the "drama" would have been over. But then again, we probably would not have a complete plot/movie if that happened. LOL
