Older male on seeing the movie

Actually, I enjoyed the movie very much and found more than I expected in it. It was very good - until the end and I really didn't understand the endings.

1. Why did Laurie marry Amy? He was in love with Jo for the whole story, and when she rejected him he settle for her sister?

2. Did Jo really marry Baher? Or did she just finish the book that way to satisfy the request of the publisher?

The book is in the public domain, and available from Project Gutenberg I think I'll have to get it and read it to find out what the real story is.

As far as I understood it Jo's book was written with her marrying Baher to satisfy the publisher but the real Jo didn't marry.

Whether it was Alcott's idea or the publisher's, in the book Jo married the professor, therefore the "real" Jo married him.

That's how they ended up in the first book.
Apparently the discussion with the publisher happened in the second book and was pulled in to the film to give a little humorous twist - well, I thought it was funny anyway.
