Reviews are saying this is one of the best films ever

Is this true?

It's very good indeed. I was surprised how much a well known story with a cast I didn't think was right for the parts totally pulled me in. Also it's beautifully filmed.

It is a good film, but not one of the best ever.

of 2019, sure. Not ever. That’s ridiculous.

Critic's seem to adore Greta Gerwig's work and seem to throw on so much acclaim that it's just impossible for her films to ever live up to the hype.

I thought Ladybird was a good coming of age film, but the way it was reviewed you swore it was the second coming of Citizen Kane. I think besides Laurie Metcalf's performance, it wasn't really a award worthy film for me. Just my opinion. I think it helped that it was released at the time of MeToo movement, and the critic's and Hollywood were waiting for female director to come along with a somewhat decent female led film and Ladybird was that. I think a lot of movie goers saw through it and 7.4 on IMDB is the right score for it.

With Little Women, I think it's a step up from Lady Bird. I think you can clearly see Gerwig is in love with the material, and she get's some wonderful performances out of her cast, especially from Florence Pugh, who steals the movie right from under Saoirse Ronan imo. It's a well shot and well paced film, the cut back from past to present is a little jarring in places but once you get used to it, the film really gets you. I don't think it's overly Oscar worthy imo besides Pugh's performance but it's a very good film.

Is it one of the best films ever? No, it's not even top 10 best films of 2019 for me.

She's a woman. Think that after all the pressure to hire female directors... there's not so many good female directors out there, so they're extolling the few ones that are decent enough.

It happened the same with blacks. Jordan Peele is a skilled director, but that's it. They're trying to make him the new Hitchcock. Greta Gerwig is just a new Jordan Peele.

That's a dangerous game, since they force them to be up to the praise they received, and that could end with them being broken toys. Peele has already failed with the Twilight Zone reboot, and since then media has gone silent about him. We'll see.

Spot on, as usual.

Awards nominations are saying the same thing

6/10

The non-linear storytelling took all of the emotion out of it.

NO WAY!
