The ending

A little confused with how this ended. I thought David placing the phone down while that guy was yapping away was indicating that he was still going to move upstate with Juliette. But then she walks away in disgust. So am I to take it from her reaction that he's going to go along with the project now?

She could tell by the look on his face that he was back in.

I thought the movie was not about the main characters and their sexual coming of age or whatever but about the background. How life circumstances drastically change and influence us. So the ending is the point . You are heading fully with one way then bam another way altogether.

Malaysia, first class. He's back in. And why shouldn't he be? He's been working to get to a position of creative control, and now he's got it. David need waste no more time with Juliette making him feel guilty about a job he's good at, and go find someone who will appreciate and support his professional ambitions.

So, did the part where they spent the entire film satirizing exactly your attitude just sail right over your head, or something?

look, chances are high that Sophie will have to fly out to Malaysia as part of his team, you know since she's the basis of the virtual reality model and all, so David might finally get a chance to tap that while they're both working out there
