Noam Chomsky is certainly one of most brilliant geo-political minds in world today. He is also staunch anti-American & anti-Israel policy. Once you know that going into this film it makes it much easier to compartmentalize. That being said, he is worth listening to.

He actually addresses the "anti-American" claim in the movie, but I don't suppose Cahammill wants to repeat just why Chomsky makes a good case for it being nonsense.

This man and Frank Zappa with Ralph Nader were the only three guys that were brilliant and centered. The United States is so overly screwed up with the rich and powerful of unbalanced concerns that it should be taken down like a flag. And I mean removed. We need communism back. Everyone should get a fair share of life then be a lottery ticket. My hopelessness is permanent.

Or just bring back the system we had in the 1950's. More manufacturing? Anyway, I don't have much hope either. My philosophy for this election is to vote for the worst possible President for the people. Why? That president will hopefully be so terrible that it will spark a fire in most of the American people to be more active, and thus result in a quicker, positive change than if we would elect a president that is best for the american people, relatively speaking.

Whatever happens, things will get worse before they get better. If they get better.

This dangerous option is gaining momentum. I believe it's a reflection of the desperation out there. As big business controls and subjugates we are left with only desperate measures. Look over at the UK. Jeremy Corbyn elected leader of the Labor party. Not electable, no way but he drew a huge vote to get him in. Now the U.S. Has its chance to stir the mix. Vote Trump light that fuse, stand back and watch the fireworks. With legitimate options taking us nowhere what have we to loose? Our savings-what savings. Our jobs-for most work is a nightmare slog, that's if you're lucky enough to have a job ( zero hours contract, no holiday pay, minimum wage, no security. Oh and of course our homes-massively overpriced poorly constructed and bought on mortgages we may have to pass on to our kids. Pull the plug.

Last night I watched Michael Moore's new movie, Where to Invade Next (downloaded as a rental from Google Play). I thought it was a brilliant, funny, encouraging and offers a look at what's working in other countries that we could do here, especially since many of the people interviewed in the other countries point out that their ideas originated in the US. I think you'll feel more encouraged if you give it a look. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4897822/reference

The biggest red herring and empty promise of 2016 is that the U.S. can or will return to becoming a manufacturing nation. That's gone, and quite frankly, there's no reason to want to return low-skill, manual labor jobs back to the American economy. Let the third world have it.

Instead of spending so much time looking to the past or lamenting the destruction of the working class job market of factory work and coal mining, the nation should be looking toward the future. Instead of pandering to low-educated, low-skilled workers, we should spend more time trying to increase their education and skill to compete in an economic system that is going to be far more dynamic than it used to be.

This "bring back the factory work" stuff is the equivalent of giving a 5th grader 4th grade work because he had an easier time when he was doing that work. But what happens when developed world becomes a 7th grade world? The 5th grader is screwed because he can't even handle 5th grade work. Its been my experience that one has to fight to stay afloat in the next situation. The result has always been than pining for the old situation that's long gone.

reply

I agree. Automation (software, robotics) has replaced the American factory worker much more so than outsourcing/offshoring...

reply

Yes. The biggest lie that Trump, Clinton and Sanders are selling is that they can save the poor or working class from that. Its either step up or prepare to a member of the permanent underclass.

reply

I agree, we need to go back to the way it was in the 50's. Communism has not worked as the power hungry rise to the top and corruption takes hold...

He's a lying hack propagandist with a lobg, pathetic track record of praising and idolizing the most oppressive and genocidal Socialist regimes in history
