It could have been better... Spoilers!!!

I liked the music but I didn't like the circumstances that led Ryan to stay day after day with Jackie, he came off as a stalker or a creep. Like after diner the mother told him to get lost and he didn't, then the snow , the roof leak...
I mean he was the one doing the favor in the first place not her so why he was obligated doing her favors and passing his friend trip to get a job?
they could have found better circumstances IMO.

This seems to have just gone over your head. It is not about "obligations", it is about doing what you want to do in a moment, helping people you like, letting your heart rule instead of your mind (obligations, analysis paralysis, ... ).

Right, helping a rich blonde woman in these days is what doing the right thing is all about. If he wanted to do the right thing he could have helped his friend's child and wife and see if they need support and help after his friend abandoned them and after his death.

Here you go again about "obligations" to do this or that. It is a movie about a guy who does not think like that, he thinks about what he would like to do, and does it. He is not hurting anyone, far from it.

Jackie was "cash poor." Maybe she had a Manhattan Condo and some nice jewelry but she wasn't rich anymore.

Also, Jackie asked Ryan to stay after dinner because she had some things to give to him since his backpack was stolen.

You are way over thinking this film. I thought it was beautiful and sweet.

I assume you were answering the person above, not me.

right.

I liked the music as well, but that is as far as I go along with you.
As I remember correctly, it was she who made the first move, when she challenged him on their first encounter with the question: "do you have nothing to say". From that scene it was obviously that she fancied him. Later on it was she, who offered him to stay for dinner, a sleeping place in the garage and so on.

What if this is as good as it gets?

I also liked the music, but I felt the story was lacking something. I think it's like Elizabethtown, the movie itself is meh, but the music is what makes it memorable.
