Poor Jim...this is the beginning of the end...

I love Lady Gaga, I really do. I love the Muppets as well. You know who else loves the Muppets? Children. You know who should not be watching Lady Gaga yelling "touch my body parts" surrounded by the Muppets while wearing nothing but a shirt and a thong and rubbing herself? Children. Or anyone else for that matter.

I'm not sorry to say that this "special" was not ok. The Muppets were created as a form of entertainment that inspired learning. Jim Henson put a lot of thought and time and love into the direction of his creation yet here we are, watching his characters crack cheesy, recycled, easy jokes in between Lady Gaga's barely clothed numbers featuring adult lyrics and adult themes.

The older I get, the less I understand how so much became "ok" and often wonder if anyone else notices how bad things have really gotten. It's a shame really.

Someone earlier mentioned that Jim was rolling in his grave. I think that's an understatement. If he were still alive this special never would've happened and I would venture a guess that those that suggested it may have even been fired.

I'm no prude myself (I have been doing erotic art for 10 years now) but yeah, Lady Gaga was wearing a thong dancing with Muppets and singing "Don't you know my ass is famous?" during Venus.
And I thought to myself "Isn't this just a little risque for a Thanksgiving special for children?"
Now I know the Muppets also entertain adults as well. (Hell, I'm a muppet fan and 28 years of age.)
But there was kids watching and this was holiday special.
I'm not saying the performance wasn't good because Gaga is VERY talented and a wonderful performer.
I'm just saying this probably wasn't the time or the place for her to be wearing a thong onstage.

I was really disappointed in this. I don't hate Lady Gaga although im not really a fan of her's either. But the muppets to me have always been about being funny while still being somewhat wholesome. While they may make risque jokes here and there I felt like this was pointlessly sexual. Im by no means a prude, and I have no problems with sex in tv or film, but this was just needless. Why pair up this stuff with Muppets? Not to mention what does this have to do with the holidays? I think it's not only disrespectful to Henson's memory but to everyone who has grown up as a fan of the muppets. It feels like Disney is simply pimping out the muppets to any fad they think will make a profit. It's sad that after seeing how great the last movie turned out to be Disney goes and makes this garbage.
