Important accomplishments

I think three of the most important and incredible accomplishments in recent world power history are landing on the moon and returning, Apollo 13 and the 1980 US Olympic hockey team win. These are accomplishments that showed ridiculous success in situations that were important in modern history. Mock me for Miracle on Ice but that was an incredible Cold War win when superiority mattered in certain situations. The Space Race stands on it's own even better. Talk about luck. Without Werner Von Braun it would've never happened. Herb Brooks, on a lesser level but still so important to the psyche of America, is also a gift.

Yes to all that above.
It's a shame that today America is on a race to the bottom. American pride and exceptionalism is now considered a bad thing.
