I vividly remember all the articles about 'Russians fail in NHL'. But that was -before- '96.

That Russian 5 unit in Detroit might have been the most exciting in NHL history! Eventhough it wouldn't be as dynamic there should be a 5 man all Russian unit in the NHL again.

It was a really bleak time for Russians just joining the NHL back then, I was really privileged to be a die hard Red Wings fan in the 90's to see the Wing's version of the Russian 5 play, and to win together. It was such a fairy tail ending for at least a few of them.
"Come in, dispatch. Send more paramedics."
Yeah, that was so cool. It will never be like that again because the Russian players these days don't know each other as well on the ice as those guys did.
