did a flight attendant try and kill a man?

it didnt escape my notice, the stewardesses were all guiding the people to evacuate on the wing so as to lessen their exposure and not go into the water which could have been a death sentence....yet if you notice, a brunette stewardess directs a man at an exit that wasnt at the wing that he HAS to jump into the freezing water.
now before you say there wasn't time for him to make it to the wing, well, thats simply not true as they were all on that wing for a long time...even still as the rescue boats were there..yet the film showed with a nice amount of shots this poor shmoe struggling in the water.so it obviously must have happened.

I found this very odd and all I can think of is the stewardess didnt like this guy as he was the only one our of 155 people who was told to jump into the freezing waters. he could easily have been overcome with hypothermia..or even drowned, he didnt appear to have a flotation device. very strange I wonder what he did the the stewardess to make her want to do that to him.

Good point. A bit much to say she was trying to kill him. If anything that moment could've symbolized that there was at least some sort of panic which lead to a little bit of irrational thinking.

reply

He was her ex husband and she still can't stand the SOB!

Damn I'm good.

reply

Really, did that happen in the movie? I didn't notice that. LOL

reply

Actually, that did happen in real life. When the flight attendant opened the door the slide did not deploy and the flight attendant told the person to jump. The slide did deploy a few seconds later and the poor guy had to be pulled back into the slide by the other passengers. Later in the movie, there is a shot of this passenger being led up the dock while wearing one of the pilot's shirt, which is all true.

Promise me, no matter how hopeless things get, keep on trying, OK? Keep coming chin-up, OK?

reply

Stewardess?

How old are you? And when was the last time you flew?

reply

sorry goodsoveryverygood, not everyone in this world is a weeping willow who gets upset over words. live in your bubble little girl.

reply

You just reveal yourself is all ...

As maya Angelou says when someone tells you who they are believe them ... and I do - you tell all who you are.

reply

I think your outrage at the word "Stewardess" over "Flight Attendant" is a bit overblown and disingenuous. Remember, you're telling everyone who you are too.

Come on guys, we're here to discuss the movie, not get all pc about what job title to use.

reply

Let's say I am 101 and I reveal myself. So what?

reply

Steward and stewardess are still perfectly good words. But in our ever expanding attempt to homogenize our language "flight attendant" is now preferred.

Although I have to admit, I might rather be called a flight attendant myself - it sounds more important.

reply

And is more accurate

reply

So you also prefer to be called an escort rather than a prostitute...?

Burn.

Frankly I flew more back when they were still "stewards" and "stewardesses", and use them interchangeably with "flight attendant" these days, it was certainly not offensive back then, and it's certainly not used with intention to offend today. One could say that each generation has it's own dialect of the language, and by forcing them to not use their native language you oppress them.

So just because you call me a custodian instead of a janitor supposed to make me feel better about my job cleaning up your *beep* (I'm not really a janitor, I am however an engineer. Is there a less offensive name for my job? Technology attendant?)

reply

It's just that stewardess completely negates and ignores all the men who also do that job. I don't like the inequality. The word nurse for example doesn't imply a gender but the word stewardess, imo anyway, does. I never thought wanting to include men was being "PC" but ok, I guess, we live in strange times and I really don't know what is what anymore …

reply

Steward is what you call a male stewardess. It's not difficult.

reply

But no guy wants be called a steward really so we just go with flight attendant all around to make it easy.

reply

Sure. But nutty progressives are trying to make it so saying it the other way is offensive. It isn't. It's just another way of saying it.

reply

It really isn't up to you to determine what is offensive or not.

reply

My only explanation for it is she wanted everyone to get off the plane as quickly as possible. She had no idea how fast the plane would sink or anything else would happen to prevent people from getting off would happen, so she just wanted to keep things moving.

reply

She was instructing people in the back to go to the wings because the back exits were completely underwater. The the guy in the front was told by a different flight attendant to jump since the wing exits were to crowded with people from the middle and back of the plane

reply

Well he also tried to swim to shore. Him and that fat lady who figure since they plane was going to sink, might as well get a head start was top kek.
