Bunzo is going to win the Oscar for best supporting rabbit

The train station scene was heartbreaking.

reply

I hope so that is a crushing scene! But I am glad the movie ended happily.

reply

But it didn't though, the ending was a dream sequence. In reality it's implied she either died, or fell victim to her obsession.

reply

The rabbit's name was Bonzo (not Bunzo), right? I only remember because I'm definitely naming a pet that in the future...

reply

It's definitely named Bunzo in the movie.

Every scene with Bunzo is intensely cute. Especially when kumiko is feeding him noodles.

In the park where a poor, flummoxed Bunzo is being informed by Kumiko of his new freedom I had a moments scare, thinking Kumiko was about to kill poor Bunzo.
Again at the train station I feared she meant to throw poor Bunzo in front of a train in some sick pun on Japanese salarymen.
But seeing Bunzo all alone on the blue train seat was sad.

I hope Bunzu is happily nibbling on some noodles wherever he may be.

Bunzo did fine, got the subway to the airport and took a flight to meet Kumiko in the USA.

reply

I thought she was going to throw him in the water!

I can't stand it when she touches me.

reply

Best thread subject line. Ever.

reply

I found myself wondering about Bunzo during the film.

And surely Following Bunzo's journey would be a worthy watch and pose a fun and challenging project for the filming crew.

reply

I would vote for that. In fact, there should be a category for animal performances on tv/film. Best animal acting goes to....Richard Parker

Bunzo Warrior Bunny coming soon.

reply

Bunzo is gonna be a star :)

There can be no true beauty without decay.

reply

I loved that rabbit! And the way he "appeared" in the end to add to her happiness!

reply

I'm pretty sure that the rabbit in the final sequence is a different rabbit from Japan. The ears are much longer on the Bunzo at the end than the other one. I believe they are two different breeds of rabbit. Possibly due to restrictions on bringing a rabbit into the US from Japan?

reply

Right?? The nose is a totally different shape too. My pet rabbit is shaped very much like the Bunzo in most of the movie, but the one at the end is, well, pointier.

reply

According to the credits, Bunzo was played by Bunzo the Rabbit. And a masterful performance it was! Clearly, a method actor. Does anyone know whom he studied under?

reply

Yes, Bunzo was played by Bunzo the Rabbit. So indeed he is real.

Instead of going to work tomorrow, I'm quitting my job, going to Toyko and find him on the train!

reply

I m going with you to find Bunzo! Lol

reply

Bunzo did a better job in this movie than a lot of professionally trained actors I see every now and again
