Strange film, but I enjoyed it

It was odd how I discovered this film: Last night I was discussing with someone what Japanese actresses would be appropriate for the lead role in Ghost in the Shell and the only name I could come up with was Rinko Kikuchi.

So I looked up Rinko to see what else she had done and I found this film. Once I read the premise, I knew I had to check it out IMMEDIATELY, which I did.

I enjoyed the film. It's weird. Some might find it slow. But it was one of those films that used its visuals, score and pacing to weave a sort of hypnotic spell over me and I stayed locked in until the final frame.

My only concern--or should I call it a complaint? I'm not sure--is that the ending had me scratching my head. It wasn't until I came here and read some of the archived threads about the movie that it started to make some sense to me.

But overall I'd recommend it to anyone, just make sure that you've seen Fargo first.
