there really is a Hollywood FL (and why they didnt film there)

I thought it was a joke. We looked it up on the map and it turns out to be this little hick town near Miami. The reason we looked it up was because we won a 3 day stay at the Hard Rock there. Yes they have a Hard Rock there! Its because Hollywood FL is an Indian reservation and they have gambling. We went around the area in different directions and even stopped into a few of the local bars. Hollywood Fl people are really kind of a backwards sort behind on the times in all ways. They dressed in the 80's I kid you not. They played 80's music in all the bars. They offered us cocaine in every bar! It was like the twilight zone.
Anyway, there is no way movie actors would come there to do a sitcom - they might end up slitting their wrists in depression. In a way I feel sorry for the people that live there. The Hard Rock was very nice though. For sure its not for the townsfolk's to frequent - way too expensive and probably scarey to them. We didn't run into any locals. (thank God!)
Anyway the entire sitcom is filmed in the comfort of Hollywood CALIFORNIA.

I've been to Hollywood Florida, just a simple suburb of Miami. Fun little town.

Hollywood, FL. You pass it going to Miami.

I like how you think you stumbled on to some big secret. Movies/TV shows are very rarely shot where they are set. It's been like this since they figured out it was just cheaper to fake it.

I think most movies or shows that were primarily set in a certain state or town and have outdoor scenes are probably shot in that place.

could you imagine Miami Vice shot in SOCAL?!

married with Children could be shot anywhere since 99.9 % of the show is indoors and not on the streets of Chicago.

"Bad Boys" about 2 Miami cops. Had to be shot in Miami.

I dont know how much of "Big Time in Hollywood, FL" takes place outside, but if a portion of it is, people will notice and the series is doomed for failure. Especially with that title: "Big Time in Hollywood, FL" People not from Florida will be wondering what Hollywood Florida looks like. People from Florida will immediately see a giant difference in architecture and landscape.
Then again, maybe it mostly takes place indoors and then can be shot anywhere.

looked like alot of it was filmed in long beach and even some in neighboring san pedro

Hollywood California is a cesspool full of poverty and crime. The nice movie star part of Hollywood California is actually only a very small portion of it. Hollywood, Florida on the other hand is a nice community. Hollywood Florida is not an Indian Reservation, it is a fairly large city with a small Indian reservation within the city limits. Also it's not really a hick town at all (you'll find that in north Florida). Honestly you sound like a pretentious uneducated douchebag for judging a whole city and the people in it solely based on your experiences at the Hard Rock.

This guy had obviously never been to Hollywood, FL. It's much nicer there than Hollywood, CA. It's actually a pretty high income area in Florida and is populated with educated professionals. Hollywood, FL is definitely NOT a hick town. It's a rather nice suburb in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
