I have to say, even though its not such a lengthy chase, that its one of the most beautifully shot carechase scenes I have ever seen in a movie.

from how it began; the car infront of him suddenly just turns off the road and he finds himself behind the white car, with the sticker they been looking for. To going onto the gravelroad and just as he makes himself ready to smash into him. We see the face of a young woman just making her visible for a second or two. Which makes him hesitate. To the other car just killing the lights disappearing into the darkness.
To the escape.
Wow.
It was movie magic.

felt more real and tense than 9 out of 10 carchase scenes these days in which everything is about shacky cam and constantly switching camera angles, trying to fool the viewer that its a "high speed chase".

Yeah, I got like so mesmerized at that point. I mean I was invested in this movie long before this scene came up but when it happened, it came so "out of nowhere" if that makes sense and I just got sucked into it in a nanosecond haha.

It was a great scene, also really liked the scene where the killer gets it, the mud and rain and the brutality in the way the cop kills the murderer is great.

Yeah I agree with you. There are many memorable scenes in this one where environment, acting and sound and all comes together to make it all so memorable.
I liked it a lot.

Only other car chase that is better would be 'To Live and Die in LA'.
Other case chases that are in popular lists are highly overrated.

This whole movie was beautifully shot. Especially the aerial shots. They had to use
some kind of massive droves to get such perfect stable shots like that.

I have actually not seen that one but since you brought it up in connection to this movie, def going to look it up. I know about it of course but for some reason I never gotten around to ever watch it :)

I agree all that is very well done.

Omg, you have to watch To Live And Die In LA.
That movie is an 80s masterpiece.

In my person opinion, it has THE best car chase scene ever filmed. Period. It will literally have you on the edge of your seat, heart racing. I really can't see how they filmed it and no one died.

You won't be disappointed.
Also, if you are into any of the retro 80's type stuff at all, this movie
is the epitome of that culture, but not in a cheesy way t like most movies.
Movies made today that try and portray that retro 80's feel usually end up
just making fun of that time. This movie was made in that era, so it pulls
off the whole Miami Vice thing, before Miami Vice was even a thing.
All the drama and action of the best Miami Vice, without the cheesy Crockett
and Tubb pastel colors, lol.

Oh, and the best car chase scene ever filmed.

Really was a great scene.
Shows that you don't need explosions, mayhem and chaos to shoot a great chase sequence.
Just an understanding of the character, the situation and the film's location will turn a small budget film feel more tense than modern blockbusters.
