You shouldn't have asked about Dubai (Spoiler)

Spoiler I guess, but it's not a major character, only on screen for a few minutes.

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate this trope. The killer soooo badass and secret he kills anyone who even smells of knowing who he is. That is so demonstrably stupid. He's a killer for hire. He, clearly, works with and for others. He employs people to make things, fix things, provide material support.

Who would ever, ever have a business relationship with someone like that. If I was sick, sent over my trusted lackey and you killed him, then at the least I guess I don't ever work with you again. Word will probably get out.

Oh, you are super awesome and that's why people hire you anyway? Not if you need others to do some technical tasks. And then they won't work with you. Now you are not effective, so no one hires you.

Get some people skills and business sense. Please. Ugh.

Rant off.

reply

Disagree. He didn't kill him because the lackey knew he is a killer, but because he was indiscreet. Don't ask such questions of a killer.

reply

If the lackey knew, other people would know too.

Its useless to angrily wipe out one person who knew what you did, because he was surely not the one who searched for this information. Someone told him. If you are not willing to kill them all who know, you just burn bridges with this kind of behavior.

Maybe it was a plot grievance to let Brosnan shine as psychopath, but this trope used often in movies. Notably in Batman Rises, where the Joker robs a bank and then kills all of his henchmen, just because. How in the world would this guy ever get another guys to work for him? Nobody ever survives!?

reply

It is not the knowledge that is the issue. It is the behaviour demonstrated. I know you are a killer, but I understand that it is my role to be discreet and pretend to know nothing and act accordingly. Someone who violates this implied requirement is someone who is likely to talk indiscreetly and hence should be silenced.

Your wife and you had sex. It is the role of the hotel housekeeper to pretend she is unaware even though all of you know all of you know. To violate her role is to bring on the risk of punishment.

reply

Why are people taking such laughable cliched nonsense so seriously.
