Romanian terrorist Emil Balan character

As a Romanian national I'm very disappointed the producers chose an ethnic Romanian as a main figure of the terrorist complot: dr. Emil Balan, played by the late Rogers Rees.
The Romanians are old friends with the Americans. No Romanian was ever involved in any terrorist attack against Americans or any other nations.
They should've picked a Russian or Arab, or other many nations with long time traditions in international terrorism, but not Romanian.

Was this the guy that was with brosnan on top of the roof at the end and got killed by Brosnan? I thought he said he was Armenian. Don't take it serious. The Americans would not believe all Roumanians hate us. There is good and bad in every ethnic group.

They couldn't figure how who the character is. First he's a GP, then a pediatrician, then a researcher for a drug company, then he's an expert in making chemical weapons, which incidentally, has nothing to do with the other three 'professions." HE is defended by the head of a British drug company so passionately that something more than personal must be at play. Yet, he is able to determine that the woman in the visa window is out to get him and is a 'danger' who must be eliminated. The Ambassador to England, on no evidence whatsoever, apparently agrees with him, and not only that, gives a green light to British intelligence to just go ahead and kill the woman, who five minutes before was a key security staffer. This movie was lame. Watched it twice.
