Is that a gun?

That is some liberal horse *beep* Where are they pulling these stats from saying that you're more likely to have your own firearms used against you? If someone is breaking into my house when I'm in there, who can get to my firearm first, me or them? Obviously, I know where I keep my firearms. Why wouldn't you feel safer knowing that you can protect yourself? A phone call doesn't stop the bad guys when seconds count.

If you're serious and not a troll I hope to God, for your sake, that you never actually experience this scenario and discover the hard way how long it actually takes for the police to arrive.

Don't forget that it was Americans with guns who kicked England's ass...twice!

They are so clever the "used against you" includes suicide and being shot in your sleep by your psycho wife. While it's true these events are more likely than mortal combat with a thief over your $200 TV, it's simply false to claim that guns aren't the best defense. Though according to this movie the correct way to use them is for cold-blooded murder

A burglar could break into your home when you're away, find your firearm, then use it against you once you return.

That's true. But he could also break into your house and use your kitchen knives, claw hammer, screw driver or chainsaw against you in the same way. But he won't have to because, unlike law abiding citizens, he probably has his own gun.

This is why we have gun safes.

I had my house burglarized, they stole laptops, a Playstation and looked at my safe, tried to move it, could not.

Eventually they stole some ammo (which anyone over 18 can buy).

Lol it's like none of these folks have even heard of a gun safe.. I'd like to think most law abiding citizens keep their firearms safely locked up.
I was raised around guns, including how to use them safely. We live in a rather small town, but years ago some dude tried to break into the back of our house in the middle of the night with almost the entire family present, minus my father who was away for the ARNG. The warning shot my mother fired off in the sky and the subsequent warning that the next shot was coming his way got the would-be invader running away awfully quick, so much so that he tripped over a ladder that was left laying on the grass in the backyard on his way out. We caught a peek at the crappy brown truck he took off in, and we're quite sure he'd been casing our place for at least a week prior. They never figured out who it was, even though very shortly thereafter, an elderly couple in town were robbed.
Who knows what would have happened had that man gotten into our home, and I'm glad that we had guns available in our house to defend it from someone who would do us harm or take our property. Guns are not to be taken lightly, but when used safely and responsibly they can be an incredibly powerful tool.

Where are they pulling these stats from

It's a well known fact that, when you're pushing a liberal agenda, it's perfectly acceptable to pull statistics out of your ass and use them to support your argument.

The best one I've ever heard is the number of unreported hate crimes. How in the hell does anyone know how many hate crimes go unreported? Do they poll a bunch of people as to how many of them have been victims and then count the hands that are not raised?

I believe the idea behind the idea that your gun will likely be turned against you is that most people do not want to use their gun against another person.
Yes, the firearm was bought for self-protection but seldom is any training taken in a gun's use.
A criminal facing incarceration however, is more likely to face you down and gain control of the gun and then turn it against you.
Now let all the brave, macho types explain how that wouldn't happen to them.
