The dog's name is Hazel but is a male dog. I always thought Hazel was a female name. Is Hazel a male name?

Hazel is a female name. I think that just reflects the quirkiness of the owner. Like someone naming a dog "Freeway" because that's where you found him, even though it's neither a male nor female name, or a name at all.

I asked the same question and apparently it's because the dog's color was "hazel" as in "light-brown".

Hazel is not light brown. Hazel is greenish-brown. An eye color.

Hazel is a name for either sex.
Well it is here in the uk where we're more civilised than the rest of the developed world.

Maybe they should have called it Robin, Jody, Riley, Quinn, Frankie, or Pat or some other name.

I remember Lassie was actually a male dog.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

hazel was a good boy & that was a touching scene there at the Vet. I do believe that Hazel not being there anymore lead to the Rat revealing itself.
