why is the TV black and white?

Its just so weird when theres modern cars and one of them is reading something from her portable device thus its defenitely not the 60s or 70s.

They were purposfully trying to make it a mishmash of different decades. I guess, so it appears that the movie was set anytime from the 70's to present day (that shell reading device looked a bit futuristic even).

The cars look like they're from the 70s. The tv may be bw or colored but we won't know bec they were watching a bw film.

An interesting but ambiguous fact... "Killer from Space" is B&W but "Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women" is actually in color - but often prints are washed out and there just might be B&W prints out there.
