You can't get rid of it! (Spoilers)

Spoiler alert:
The theory is that you can rid yourself of the curse by passing it to someone else. But, everyone that passed it along was still cursed!

Hugh passed it to Jay and was still being followed.

Jay passed it to Greg and was still being followed.

Greg presumably passed it to the girl he had his arm around at the lunch table and died anyway.

Jay presumably passed it again to the guys on the boat, didn't work again.

Jay passed it again to Paul and what happened? She was still followed.

Paul passed it on to a hooker and was still followed.

PASSING IT ON DOESN'T GIVE IT AWAY! Am I the only one who caught this?

reply

True.

Should be called "It Never Stops."

A bright light can hollow the deepest of nothingness.

Well yes, because if the person they passed it on dies, they'll be followed again.

Hugh passed it to Jay and was still being followed.

No he wasn't. The creature wasn't following him. The same goes for other examples you listed.

Also, I don't think we're supposed to assume Paul gave it to the hookers or that Greg gave it to that girl at the lunch table. The movie never gives that option.

The most it gives to the scene where Paul sees some hookers is that he's thinking about that possibility, not that he actually did it.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought that if you passed it on to someone, and that person passed it on to someone else, then you'd be in the clear. For example, if Jay passed it on to one of those guys on the boat, and that guy passed it on to someone else, then Jay would no longer be followed. Didn't care for this movie too much. It had a good premise, but was kind of boring.

She wouldn't be followed, but if those people died she'd be in trouble again. And she can't know if those people died or not, she still must be careful and paraonid.

If you pass it along you're still cursed but you're not followed. It's like Final Destination, you can be 'skipped' but you're still marked for death and eventually it'll come back around for you. Jeff was trying to make the point that he still wasn't in the clear, probably becuase he had 5 angry people confronting him about deliberately infecting a girl with death.

Why do people so frequently get told to read the book on a movie database?

reply

OP is wrong unfortunately.
Hugh was no longer being followed after passing it to Jay. He could see It, but It was still following Jay.
The same with all your other examples.

If you pass the curse on you can still see It, but you'll be seeing It as It ambles after your 'victim', rather than you. Hence why Jay saw It walk right past her house and straight to Greg's house. It even didn't stop to go after her when she was stood in the corridor about a meter away from her, just kept going after Greg.

reply

Once your cursed there is no stopping it. Eventually it will come after you again unless you die from something else before that happens.
