Season 3 would've been interesting.

From the series creator:

Nonetheless, Shaw still has plans for a third season. He says the series, as a whole, is like a “three-act play,” and the end of season two is the the end of the first act.

Shaw, on the future of Manhattan:

"I thought of this show as a kind of three-act play and the end of this season should just bring us to the end of the first act of that story. What awaits is a story about the America that was born on the other side of World War II. The beginning of the atomic age and the way in which we remade ourselves. I hope we’ll get to follow characters in this moment when Los Alamos goes from being the best kept secret in the world to being the most famous city on the planet.”

I would've loved to see post WWII America where there is praise for ending the Pacific war and hinting at the coming of the Cold War. Shame they pulled the plug one season too soon.

If the end of season two is the end of the first act, then they didn't "pull the plug one season too soon"...
The third and forth season would have been act two, and fifth and sixth seasons would have been act three.

Then its even more disappointing since i'm assuming the following acts would've involved the Cold War. That could've been great.

In 1954, there was a dramatic episode involving Oppenheimer in a public security hearing in which he was denied his security clearance. It was partially fueled by Cold War paranoia.

I just finished watching the last 2 episodes last night and came on here to discuss, only to find it has been cancelled. Not fair! There are so many story lines they could've run with in season 3. Season 2 ended with simply the test of Fat Man. They could've gone on to show what actually happened when Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima and then Fat Man on Nagasaki, and the repercussions of how their use affected the scientists involved. (bonus if they could use some real historical footage of the actual explosions!) They could've showed the aftermath of Fritz's suicide (I highly doubt Frank Winter would try to explain it away as Fritz simply being upset that the bomb succeeded). At some point the truth of Jim's spying and treason must become known to all. Frank can't simply let him get away with it and pretend to carry on as normal. Also, I would've loved to see Crosley's continued immersion into the CIA;that in and of itself would be interesting enough to be a spin-off show.

This sums up how I feel after just finishing the finale there was definitely enough material for a third season, it's disappointing this was cancelled as Season 2 was very well done after most of Season 1 was wasted on soap opera plotlines

I was finally able to watch S2 on Hulu and I binged it all this weekend! I knew before I started that it was canceled, but I was hoping there was proper closure for most storylines and I'm satisfied, but yeah - I wish we could have gotten an S3 post-WWII. Especially Crosley's blossoming CIA career with Joe B!!

Glad its finished, Loved the show but in terms of the Manhattan project that was it !!

Everything from there on is post bomb drop.

We all know what happened with the bombs so any future series would have been dull melodrama.

If they want to do a show on post www2 and the cold war it should be under a different name with different characters but there has been tons of cold war shows and movies.

My only problem would be the ending was a bit abrupt. They could have added an extra 20 mins to resolve a few things.

There are some other shows who continue under the same name, like in this case.

"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

There should have been one more episode, to tie up lose ends.

Jim getting caught and turned into a double agent.

Winter being exonerated but professionally dead.

His wife's rise in the scientific community.

Not sure where they would go with Isaacs.

But I think one episode would have wrapped things up because, yes, it was about the bomb and the bomb was done.

This show was very very good and I am upset that there won't be a 3rd season. I want to know what happens to the characters. D**n...they cancelled it! This is exactly why I hardly watch TV anymore - you get into a good show and then it gets cancelled.
