Question: Is it the children's fault for being obedient to their parents

?

Since young we are taught to be obedient and never question anything, or else. And if we obey our parents to do things we know are wrong, it is our own fault despite we don't want to.

So what it is?

reply

You should never disobey your parents. That even being a question is amazing.

reply

This is extremely narrow minded and simplistic.

reply

Baaa Baaa. How's it feel to be a sheep?

No it's not their fault of course. There's some deep psychological manipulation obvious in all these cases.

reply

They are children. It is obviously not their fault that they had been manipulated by their parents.

reply

How is it an amazing question? What if a parent asked his kid to do something illegal for him or else he is grounded?

Guess there really are people who act worse than 12 year olds.

reply

I'd say no. The parents in this documentary were just insane

reply

I think if a kid is passionate about a sport and enjoys it, great. Parents should be supportive but not a**holes. The problem would be if the kid goes to the parent and wants to quit and the parent throws a temper tantrum. I want there to be a follow up to these kids in 10 years and see who is an Olympian or professional athlete. My guess is none of them!

reply

Not really. Justus couldn't even assert himself and have a reasonable argument back - as teens should be able to do - because his father was so crazy.

reply

No. Parents like these have manipulated the hearts and minds of their children from birth. It's like any other domestic abuse victim or Stockholm syndrome in a kidnap victim. They either don't know how to or fear being disobedient.

I don't trust people who don't like pets and I don't trust people who pets don't like.

reply

You're right. The kids are at fault. Especially Amari. That 8 year old should have put her foot down with her dad (who acted half her age by the way). What could possibly go wrong?

You have to be kidding. Look at how these kids were treated when they did their best. You think it would be any better if they told their insane, overbearing parents to buzz off? Come on.

Don't we feel like the deaf deserve better movies?

reply

No, they're kids. They want to please their parents or for them to shut-up. They're going to obey their parents to try and have it one way or the other.

reply

Children in general are obedient towards their parents as well as authority figures like coaches. When you've got domineering parents who fulfill BOTH roles, the level of obedience is going to be even higher and there is a shared goal of sacrificing in order to make it big.
