How is this compared to Noah?

I'm not an atheist, but I'm far from being overly religious. I thought Noah was pretty bad. I liked Passion of the Christ. How is this one compared to those?

This is a very thoughtful, done-with-integrity film. In the end, you may not agree with the mysticism, but I found it quite engaging.

Thanks. It sounds like something I'd enjoy seeing.

Risen is riveting, and told with a fresh perspective in that we see the world through the Roman soldier's eyes. I can't really compare it to Noah, because they are two very different products.

Noah is the bigger and in many ways superior movie in terms of scope, special effects, and acting. But you've seen it, and if you are a Christian with more than a passing knowledge of the Bible then you know it's definitely not Sunday School material, but a movie loosely based on Genesis.

Risen is also not 100% accurate, but it also doesn't throw in too much extra stuff. It plays out more like a mystery for the main character to solve, which in the conclusion has an impact on him he didn't expect.

Is 90% accurate if your question is does it follow the bible. It's a detective story so you can observe thru Clavius what happened after Jesus had Risen. I thought Joseph Finnes was academy award material and Mary Magdalene was great

The pacing of the movie was way to slow. As if they had 60 minutes of script and needed to stretch it out to 98 minutes. :(

I liked Noah, and I'm about as religious as the chair you're sitting on.

"Risen" is an interesting take on the Biblical material. "Noah" was not really Biblical and was generally a bad film.

reply

Risen was better, more drama and less Hollywood. I liked Noah also but Risen is a far more serious effort and not designed to draw in the twelve year olds like most movies today.

If you watch Noah, it's clear from the beginning that it's a fantasy movie. Risen is far less consistent: the first half is scientific, the second half is fantasy. For atheists (like me) that ruins the movie.

There were more than 2 people on the Ark. There were too many people who saw others that rose from the dead. Too many eye witnesses that it couldn't be confirmed.
