Okay, I don't know very much about special effects....but as far as shows go, is this more expensive than most to produce?

I don't recognize any of the actors (aside from a cameo in S01E01: the plant guy who went crazy)....so I'm guessing the stars' salaries aren't huge. But, isn't there a lot of....goods on display here?

To me, it looks impressive.

I'm sorry, but the name Tom Jane doesn't mean anything to me : ( I don't watch a ton or TV.

Eh... hard to say. It's locations and elaborate set designs that make a show expensive. This show has a handful of sets and a lot of green screen work. Most of the show is put together in post and I just have no idea what that costs these days. It's certainly not cheap but I don't think it's Game of Thrones expensive, even without the big names.
