Tough Australian chick

and her squad ruined the show for me, they are so annoying. But what a great butt that chica has. Lawwwwd

reply

They've introduced her into Season 2 while the show is still wrapping up the first novel's story. The Martian marine, Bobbie Draper, isn't in the novels until Book 2, so we're just getting some character development and build-up before her arc really gets going. You might love her soon. She's one of the top fan favourites of most people who've read the source material.

And yep, she's hot (the character in the book as written and the actor playing her on screen).

reply

If they wanted me to believe she could break a robotic arm-wrestling machine, they could have at least cast a more muscular woman. Her arms are tiny.

Being physically strong isn't magic, it comes from something called muscle mass.

Common misconception: Muscle mass is not proportional to muscle strength, it's more about muscle fiber density and muscle utilization, that's why bodybuilders train and look different (for mass/aesthetics) than powerlifters (for actual strength). Case in point: http://messages.herbiceps.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1371703458

To stay on topic: Wasn't it said that her family owns all the terraforming machines on Mars? So it can be assumed that her family is pretty rich and has the money for her to go trough some kind of gene-therapy/artificial muscle improvements?

reply

I'm pretty sure the white chick is the one with all the money. And lets face it, that scene was completely unbelievable. I'm supposed to be left to believe that she defeated that power suit? Amos? maybe I'd believe that, probably not even. But Bobby? Ok Starbuck, lets not take feminism to far to left on this show please... Starbuck was definitely one of the more annoying parts of BSG, lets not make Bobby into another Starbuck please.

THIS. This is why I'll miss these *beep* boards. I learned something new about *beep* muscles in a *beep* thread about a *beep* New Zealand actress.

Oh my god, IMDb boards going away is my personal Dunkirk. It feels like I'm going through a back-alley wire hanger abortion in slow motion. Let it be February 20 already!

It was made in China.

Not Australian. She's a Kiwi. I can only assume you're American and lack the ability to tell the difference... as usual

We have such sights to show you.

reply

Kiwi.. Samoan, Tongan.. uh nope. Can't tell the difference.

reply

how about simply "THICK". love me some thickness....

reply

You must be white if you think that shes "thick". hell they didn't even show any good camera angles of her. The only "butt shot" that I can assume youre referring to is when shes in a suit, which doesn't say anything about her actual curves. How about we see her out of the body armor before we start talking about if shes' "thick and curvy". Even still she'd be only curvy at best, definitely a far cry away from "thick" 

reply

I gotta look at the episode again. I missed any clear butt shot(s).. was looking though. Love the overall thickness...

reply

I actually liked Bobby. Thought the actress did a good job.

reply

I found her annoying too. Even the way she spoke to the officer was overplaying the badazz chick. I never read the books so I don't know her whole deal, but she came off as crass. I hope they were just jumpstarting her character. Maybe they'll tone down the attitude a little.

reply

I'm not impressed with Frankie Adams as Roberta 'Bobbie' W. Draper at all. As usual Hollywood proves it is completely incapable of portraying proper military conduct. The way this actress acted around her commanding officer was so far from proper military conduct it was laughable. Most senior personnel would be inclined to put you on report for looking at them with the contempt and overamped aggression displayed by this so called Marine. I really liked the first season. I'm hoping they don't ruin it this season. If they keep this Marine in front they're going to mess up a good thing.

reply

Never read the book, but I liked her. I've been hearing about her here and there for about a year, so she's clearly a fan favorite for those who've read the books. She looks to have some discipline and authority problems, which may come in handy with our unorthodox bunch. Trying not to look too far ahead, but the inevitable meeting or confrontation is something I'm already looking forward to. As for her physical prowess against the machine, I have to think it's set for a particular weight tension. I didn't get the sense they were trying to suggest she was the strongest person in the crew. Who knows how Mars atmosphere affects the human body if you were born there though. As usual, I think people read too much into things. Whose to say she or they aren't generically engineered either to be stronger. Little is really known about them to those that haven't read the books.

reply

That's the fault of the writing and the directing, not the actress though.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

Her accent sounds so out of place in this show and I don't quite know why because I'm fine with the Dutch ones. Perhaps I'm just annoyed by the New Zealand accent in general.

I also cringed when someone referred to her as a Kiwi on this thread. Maybe let's leave that expression for the wonderful fruit and the adorable bird that is the jewel of...

..oh my *beep* god, the boards are going away! None of this matters now! I'm so *beep* sad! This is my first emoticon on IMDb boards ever: 
