maybe i just couldn't keep up with this film and all the narratives, but who is the small girl with the burns at the end of the film? i'm SO confused. because i didnt' understand that last scene, the whole payoff of the film is completely lost on me.
shareWow seriously? It's the girl the diary belonged/belongs to. She heard him reciting the first page in the hospital... which he had previously mentioned he memorized... you need to watch it again.

shareWhen he went dumpster diving in the beginning. He found a diary that had been through a fire but still legible. Pinky read the last entry to Willie stating that she had lit candles in memory of her mom but the uncle was upset she'd start a fire. She did...so off to the burn unit. Which is where he too ended up in because he tried saving the diary.
shareI missed it too - the narrative was really quite confusing at times and there were a lot of threads that went unexplained. Frankly the idea that a speakerphone was left on broadcasting him suddenly quoting from a diary was... silly and unbelievable.
Most movies have parts that are a creative stretch; I'm willing to overlook the speaker being on and broadcasting
his reciting the diary; because the rest of the movie was solid and worked well, in my opinion.
Given all the oversights made in hospitals on a daily basis is it really a stretch to imagine a nurse or staff mistakenly leaving
a speaker on? - again, in my opinion, not at all.
If you watched his movie and don't know the significance of the girl at the end then you obviously did not pay attention to this movie whatsoever. The dairy he carried around the entire movie was her's. He was reading her life and writing his own letters to her in his mind. That's the main thing in this movie so I'm absolutely perplexed how you don't know her significance.
shareIf everyone would have paid attention to the movie. Everything in the trash dumpster he found the diary in was burnt. The girl was in the hospital because she was burnt in the house fire!
