Jon Hamm!

Melissa killed Jon hamm! It kind of mirrors when Tandy killed Will ferrel last season. Will killing big name stars be a regular thing for this show now?

reply

I had to look to see who he is.

Droid please.

reply

Carol is really the one technically killed Gordon (Will Ferrell). But yeah, seeing Jon Hamm was quite a surprise.

reply

Correct.  And yeah, I thought it was hoot that JJ got to kill her former Mad Men husband, of all people. 

Thanks for that! I didn't put that together. Good job.

The Revenge of Betty Draper.

At least we know who the "dream casting" was they pulled off. That was hilarious. When she shot him I nearly plotzed.

In best Mr. Peabody voice:

Then I guess you could call his gunshot wound a ... plotz hole.

That's funny for several reasons.

Now say it in a Johnny Carson voice and tug at your collar.

reply

Revenge for all the cheating Draper did on Betty! ;-)

reply

I can't believe it!

I consider Madman to be the greatest drama ever on TV and I laughed when January Jones was holding the rifle thinking, "Go Betty!".

But until your post, I didn't think it through any further.

Hot diggity dog...she shot Don/Dick. She got to do what I am sure Betty would have liked to have done a few times.

reply

Just like she shot those pigeons, with the cigarette hanging out of her mouth! ;-)

reply

Yep, brilliant hidden gag. Unusually underemphasized for this show (which usually has two or three lines of dialogue pointing to anything the creators consider even just remotely funny).

reply

No offense intended, but you should use a SPOILERS banner or warning for those who might not have seen the episode yet.

"I'm playing a role, sir. What are you doing?"

reply

Respectfully disagree, at least in the case of TV. If you haven't seen the most recent ep, you really shouldn't come to the message board. If you do, any spoilers are on you. IMO.

I disagree with you. People looking forward to the new season will read a few things. Especially if you just put a name like Jon Hamm as the title. Fortunately I saw the episode already but if I hadn't, I would have thought it was an announcement that he was joining season 3 (on a more permanent basis). It should at least be edited to say Jon Hamm (spoiler inside).

reply

I get where you're coming from. But what's the cutoff point? Should people looking forward to the new season avoid referencing anything in S1 in their titles for fear of spoiling people who have never seen the show?

Message boards are for discussion. People are going to discuss what's currently happening. It's just human nature. The only fair and workable solution is to say, once an episode has aired, it's no longer a spoiler.

Again, IMO.

Discussing the details of the series is one thing, but what the OP did was reveal a huge spoiler right there in the first sentence without even giving anyone a chance to avoid reading further. That's what the HTML spoiler code is for.

"I'm playing a role, sir. What are you doing?"

reply

I think so too: don't look at message boards if you don't want to be spoiled.

I agree...and living in MST, I choose to sometimes stay off the web in general if I really don't want to ruin any particular shows for myself. It takes some willpower, but it's better than being disappointed. ;)

reply

Farts! I saw this topic before I saw the episode. Kinda spoiled the joke for me.

reply

I didn't recognize him; I came here to see who the celebrity guest death was. Cute!

reply

Anybody know if January Jones was in on it or was it a surprise and didn't know that Hamm was in the suit until they took off his mask.

reply

I read that Will told her about it ahead of time at Comic-Con (back in July, a week or two before filming started). 

Doesn't he whisper it in her ear in one of the "live from Comic-Con" videos that's out there? Or did I dream that?

reply

I'm not sure -- I only know what JJ said in that one TVLine article. 

I just saw her on Seth Meyers...Will told her he got Hamm to appear, but Will did not put two and two together about the Mad Men connection, and she had to explain it to him. HA!

reply

I didn't recognize him either, so the gag was lost on me. :(

reply

I hope every season premier involves a guest star death...
