I really wish the writers didn't make him an addict. He had gone his whole life, growing up without a mother, being put down by his father, and hiding his sexuality, but after all the struggles, he came out strong and proud on the other side

... only to get shot, severely depressed, and hooked on drugs.

I get there needs to be a "story," but he had enough character complexity, already!!!
