Well I really enjoyed Season 3

While not as edgy or humorous as Season 1, I think Season 3 is overall the strongest season to date. Like the first season it has jokes, but unlike the earlier seasons it also has pathos. It also built more consistent character arcs, which while slower, ended up leading to a powerful payoff. E12/E13 had some great moments - Paul telling Lindsay to 'lawyer up', the slow bleed of Jimmy's enthusiasm after Gretchen mentioned the word 'family', even the rise of Edgar to a normal, successful person - all of which wouldn't have had nearly as much depth or resonance if the show had stuck to its Season 1 format.

The show is changing, maturing (although maybe that's too strong a word), and Season 3 is the epitome of what good, unrestrained sitcom television can accomplish. Looking forward to Season 4.

I love it too. I don't understand all the hate here. Also, I don't understand so much hate towards Lindsey. It's a CHARACTER people. Got that? Fiction. She does no exist. Even if she does, somewhere, it's not up to you to decide she needs to die "horrible death". Everyone is so moral and religious, but they would wish someone to die in most horrible ways possible without thinking.
What people don't get on these boards is that this is fiction, and show is purposely distorted to be funny, but it has depth if you look better. There are things you discover, and in a very funny even silly ways. It's not perfect but it's different, in a good way. I would hate if it's cancelled.

Me too. I love the 4 main characters. Though of course not everything they do. Paul knew he was picking up a snake.

It's okay if some people don't like the Lindsay character. Not every show is for everyone and there's nothing wrong with that.

This show is excellent. S1 was funny. S2 began to go deeper and S3 was a delicious treat of plunging depth. The series pushes boundaries while not going over the top, and always lets you rest.. just before pulling the rug out from under you again lol. So good! Looking forward to 4.

I have to assume that you like the focus being on all the couples drama. And the more selfish dark comedy of season one was not as good?

Not a bad thing, tastes vary, but IMO this show completely trashed it's original tone. Season one was brilliant and funny. Now it's just an updated version of a show like Melrose Place with a dash of dark comedy.

I really wish shows would just stop trying to grab this "couples drama" demographic that some people want in every single show! Why does every show have to be about a bunch of couples struggling with their relationships with heavy handed drama??

This show was awesome season one, and it's not even close, at all, to the original show anymore. Sure, same charterers, but now we get that delicious "couples drama"

Jimmy and Gretchen are just part of the ensemble cast now! Hell, even just side characters at many points.

Went back and watched season one again... It's just a spin off now, and I know this sounds dickish, for the lonely hearts club that absolutely must have every show like this. Be it a sitcom or a cop show. Is the spinster demographic so valuable that they absolutely must make every show have this crap? There are so many shows designed right from the start that have this theme, why must every show change to follow this path?

Very very disappointing change.
