Patricia, the mom

My god this woman. I set so much of this squarely on her shoulders. She knew how her husband was and still didn't try and save those girls. Even during one of her interviews she commented on how good of a father he was. Seriously, nutjob? He gunned down her daughters and left their bodies in a taxi cab parked in a hotel parking lot. Real father of the year fodder there.

At the funeral, Amina's boyfriend Joseph was sitting behind Patricia's son, Islam. Joseph said that Islam turned and saw him and started screaming for Joseph to get the $%&@ out and how all of this was his fault, this was witnessed by everyone in attendance. However, in an interview Patricia said that Islam saw Joseph and said "I think it is best if you left." WTF? If anyone were to watch this documentary and see how Islam acted and reacted to things you'd see that it was far outside his abilities to have a rational conversation with anyone, let alone his sister's boyfriend.

I sat watching this documentary, most of the time in utter disbelief at what I was hearing. The father was bad enough, but the mom was utter garbage for not protecting her daughters from that man. For her to defend him even after what he did...I was infuriated.

What a do nothing b@#$*. If I was her aunt and sister, who were interviewed for the documentary, I would never have another word to say to her.

You always, always, always protect your kids.

I haven't seen the documentary yet. But I agree, Patricia is just as guilty as the POS father! She knew what kind of man the scumbag was, and he pulled a gun on them in the house at one time. But nope, she had to bring them back home after finally fleeing...ARGH!
I'd also like to know, WTF was wrong with Patricia's parents?! They had no problem letting her marry at age 15 to someone twice her age. Not to mention they didn't even know each other very long at all. SMH

The mom is definitely guilty BUT she was married off to Yaser at 14 and he was abusing her. She's a child victim of him, too.

This invariably has something to do with it. Also, in Islam, women are taught to obey their husbands and the Quran condones the use of physical violence by the husband against a wife. In fact, it is a common occurrence. Sura 4:34 is the relevant verse of the Quran

Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.

So, if Patricia spoke up against Yaser, he likely would beat her into submission.
