So they were in the same place at the same time before, big deal

I am not trying to troll. I just don't understand why it's so magical and meant to be and a sign of true love just because they were in the same place at the same time at some point in the past. Big deal. So were thousands of other people. I mean, if they kept meeting over and over out of nowhere that would be one thing. But why is their meeting such a sign?

Then again, I have only seen the commercials and not the show itself, so maybe it explains better. I just don't feel like wasting my time on a show where the commercials kinda make it a letdown of what I thought the premise was. Not a true meant-to-be feel to me.

The "sign" was the fact that he checked her out, and that he couldn't stop thinking about her for over a year. However, their relationship does seem a bit one-sided to me, and not the ideal foundation for something that is supposed to last 8 months. From the pilot, she appears to be doing him a favor by settling, and even the actress is taking the side that it won't last. Of course, given that the actresses' character died on "How I Met Your Mother", and was fleeing her ex-husband on "30 Rock", maybe a break-up is her idea of a happy ending. I predict that if the show is renewed, they'll get engaged at the end of season 1, but if it gets cancelled, they'll break-up. Of course, their wedding would also make a nice finale.

It happens in movies and tv shows. It is fantasy, a rom-com, do not expect much logic.

Who turns around for no reason and smiles a giant smile at a stranger like that?
It made zero sense.

It could very be well that she turned around, thought he was checking her out and thinking that he was cute smiled back at him.
