Am I the only one..

Who hasn't laughed at anything in this show yet?

reply

yes. you are the only one

reply

You can't speak for everyone.

Why is its score low on rottentomatoes.com?

reply

Because critics hate anything they can't overanalyze and deconstruct.

Your replies will be graded and possibly used as material in future projects.

reply

Silly, blanket statement. Half of them like it. The other half doesn't.

reply

For the same reason that Homeland scored 100% on RT. Even dung like American Psy... I mean, American Sniper managed to get 73%. In other words, there is a fair amount of gun-fondling rah-rah-Murica types among the RT critics, who hate anything that makes Big Oil's tax-funded mercenary army look bad.

reply

I disagree. I think most critics are liberal types. American Sniper was fairly critical of the war. I was actually wishing it had been more patriotic.

People have tried to give this show a chance. Some gave up on it simply because it's not all that funny.

reply

There is hardly any liberal in the US by European standards. Noam Chomsky is a true liberal. The Green party is fairly liberal (and as a result, few Americans have even heard of it). Bernie Sanders is rather liberal, although not on all issues. But aside from these rare exceptions, the entire political landscape in the US fits in the right-wing authoritarian quarter of the political compass. Every time I hear someone talking about the liberal Democrats, the liberal media, or liberal Hollywood, I don't know if I'm supposed to laugh or cry.

PS: What you call patriotism is radical nationalism. The downright worship of the American military and its completely unjustifiable wars of aggression in recent decades is just one thing that's so utterly scary about the United States, at least from a European perspective. I can't even begin to imagine how people in Yemen or Pakistan must view the country that carries out weekly drone strikes with civilian casualties against them. Even this satirical show pulls its punches and portrays US meddling in the Middle East in an undeservedly positive light.

reply

I was going to say that, its like everything is Top Gun.. with the music score as well.. There arent too many countries where you see a flag at every corner.. I still have trouble recognizing what the flag of many of the countries I lived in look like. Except for some government buildings, no where do they put up a flag and even in schools they only raise it on special occassions, They consider it sacred and valuable.. Not just a symbol of in your face I represent this and you better accept that as well or else..

C I Am Not a 'Chicken shiet'

reply

Such complete nonsense. Noam Chomsky is an isolationist and nothing else. That appeals to your Euro-centric sensibilities because you don't get to participate in warfare anymore. You can have Noam if you want.

Hardcore Rand Paul fanatics are more liberal than that *beep* crybaby.

reply

That appeals to your Euro-centric sensibilities because you don't get to participate in warfare anymore.

Do you think sane people actually want to participate in warfare? Germans protested in the streets when Merkel gave in to US pressure and deployed German military in Afghanistan. Now we're being threatened by ISIS, who are kinda miffed that we helped you guys kill a bunch of brown people.

Who would have thought that counter-terrorism warfare with plenty of civilian casualties only creates more terrorism, because people get rather upset when their relatives and infrastructure are bombed to bits? Or abducted, indefinitely incarcerated on the other side of the planet, waterboarded and "anally rehydrated". Only a madman would want to participate in your self-serving / big oil-serving war games and suffer the unintended consequences.

reply

Oh, you're being threatened by ISIS? Maybe if you got off your asses and helped out too there would BE no *beep* ISIS.

What a high, pacifist horse you sit on having been a single generation removed from shoveling Jews into incinerators. But if you think it's a high-minded ideal sitting on your schnitzel-like fingers while other peoples' worlds burn... so long as yours isn't, oh what heroes you are.

Your entire country can STFU if you don't want to help. No one remembers the last time Germany HELPED anyone do anything anyway.

The problem with European liberalism is you have no idea what liberalism is. You just think it's long vacations and short work days. Sorry, Hans, there's more to human rights than making sure you and your own are well-to-do.

reply

I've just explained to you that helping you out in Afghanistan was what got us into ISIS' crosshairs. As for there being no ISIS... do you really want to go there, after creating ISIS by committing a war crime and invading a foreign country for no rational reason whatsoever?

I'm talking about Iraq of course. A country that turned out to have no weapons of mass destruction, nor did it have anything to do with 9/11. That, the utter destruction of a once-stable nation, is what created ISIS. Stop pretending that anything your country does in the Middle East is actually helping things.

As for the Nazi era: What do you think made us so pacifistic? We've learned from our terrible history. That's why we don't want to get into another war. That's why we're so creeped out when we look across the Atlantic and watch you repeat our historical mistakes. And that's also why you don't have to lecture us about human rights. In the light of the Iraq invasion, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, CIA torture, near-biweekly drone strikes, global surveillance, and the rampant police violence against ethnic minority groups in the US, you're in no position to lecture anybody on that topic.

reply

Afghanistan? Do you know anything about... geography?

No, you aren't pacifists because you lost a war and saw the errors in your ways. You're pacifists because my country rebuilt yours and for the first time in human history didn't treat the losing side like dirt. Now you have a bulldog watching over you, a bulldog that kept you safe from the Soviets, ultimately defeating them and giving you back half your country, and you don't have to lift a finger. No sir, you are pacifists now because the world isn't going to let you not be anymore. Trying to burn the world down twice was enough, thanks. You want all our bases out of your country? Fine, have fun with the responsibility of protecting yourself with a bleeding heart as your shield.

But sure, we're the bad guys. I guess that's what someone would say when they tried to be and failed. If you think we're 'repeating your mistakes' you can seriously go *beep* yourself until you bleed. How about point that self righteous finger 2 countries over, where Russia actually IS repeating your mistakes, you know, the country where half the world's Neo-Nazis reside that's gobbling up every square inch of territory they think no one will do anything over. You wont, though, as from everything you've said here is more than enough evidence on how effective web brigades are.

reply

Yes, I know where Afghanistan is. Do you? Are you even aware of the ongoing war in Afghanistan that started with a US invasion in 2001, or have you already lost track of your country's war efforts?

Once again, German military was deployed in Afghanistan. You guys also begged us to join you in your utterly insane invasion of Iraq, but we declined. Just like we refused to be part of the "intervention" in (read: the bombing of) Libya in 2011. So much for "you are pacifists now because the world isn't going to let you not be anymore".

As for the old "we rebuilt your country" canard: No you didn't. Our share of the Marshall plan aid was a loan that we paid back in full. Like the other recipients, we also agreed to conditions that made us a close economic partner of the US and an ally against the Eastern bloc. This greatly benefitted the US economy, especially since part of the Marshall aid came in form of building supplies. You essentially forced us to purchase the means to rebuild our country through US companies, and you made certain that US trade boomed while the Eastern bloc was diplomatically and economically isolated.

But yes, that was still generous compared to the treaty forced on Germany after WW1. The victors could have bled Germany out, but the US realized that we'd be more useful as a trading partner and an army base, and of course a launch pad for nuclear missiles pointed at Moscow. You were so generous that you almost wiped us all out by starting a nuclear war in the 1980s.

In case you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, your mad cowboy actor Reagan did his darndest to provoke the USSR into turning Germany into a crater landscape, or to give the US an excuse to attack first and let Europe deal with the radioactive fallout. "Watchdog", my butt. We have to thank the Russians that we're still alive today, because they were too sane to give Reagan and his generals the nuclear war they so badly wanted. They were also sane enough to capitulate in 1991. You didn't defeat them, they economically defeated themselves.

Finally, we wouldn't mind one bit if you finally withdrew your troops after all these years, because guess who is paying for them? We are! So are Japan and other nations with a US military presence. We are paying so that you can afford the biggest war machine on this planet. As well as the biggest surveillance machine. The NSA and other US intelligence agencies have access to German Internet hubs via military bases and use ECHELON to monitor our phone calls. What happens with all this data? Can you say "industrial espionage"?
Bottom line: At this point in history, there isn't a whole lot for us to feel thankful for. Maybe this hilarious TV show.

reply

Yep. We should have let you sit and rot and become a minor Soviet SSR, as German gratitude is about as non-existent as German humor.

"We have to thank the Russians that we're still alive today" Excuse me while I piss my pants laughing. What a clown.

Typical wingnut, all amped up on fox and with no friggin clue. the U.S. has become the laughing stock of the western world, and a horror story for the brown countries. Muslim mothers are probably telling their kids the Murjkins will take them if they don`t behave You still think you`re the good guys? Gawd dang lunatics, you`re pretty much the bogeyman at this point.

reply

Don't you worry. We're systematically destroying Trump one humiliation at a time.

What's it like being so caught up in raw idealism that you have totally lost touch with how things work in reality? Do you think nature is liberal? I'll give you a hint. Nature is not liberal. Neither is any other facet of reality or the human condition. Your liberalism only exists in your mind. You accept it because it makes you feel comfortable. You accept it because somehow, you made it fit for you. Everything you think could very well be an unrealistic product of your insecurities, guilts and imagination. Here's another hint. It is. Slow down, your psychosis is showing.

I have no idea. Judging from your post, you're the expert on living in a delusional fantasy world. But don't bother telling me what life is like in your paranoid conservative bubble. That would be a futile endeavour, what with you being on my ignore list.

reply

Funny that you should bring up reality. The more liberal the country, the higher it scores on pretty much every metric by which we measure quality of living; health care, education, life expectancy, income equality etc. The more conservative and religious a country or state is, the worse they score. Weird how that works, here in reality.

reply

Perhaps not. But you are one a the very few who actually wastes his time letting others know about it on a message board.

reply

Yeah, I should've spent those 30 seconds I wasted elsewhere.

reply

I hoped that it would get better but it hasn't.
Satire should be funny and this simply isn't to me.
Not even a smile so far so I'm abandoning it as a lost cause.

If the opposite of Love is indifference, what's the opposite of Hate?

reply

As a liberal socialist, I found this show to be hilarious.

reply

You clearly aren't versed in Tom Clancy-style books to get the comedy.

Your replies will be graded and possibly used as material in future projects.

reply

Maybe they should've added a disclaimer with this show:

"ONLY MEANT FOR PEOPLE WELL-VERSED IN TOM CLANCY-STYLE BOOKS"

reply

Possibly.

"What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."

reply

yep. your'e the only one.

reply

yep you are the only one lol

reply

Why would you laugh at real world events? They are life threatning and serious.

reply

This reply is too funny! Bravo! good sir
