Ancient Egyptians were Black Afrixans

As someone who has had the opportunity to visit Egypt which by the way is located in North Africa, I saw for myself the manipulation and destruction of Ancient Egyptian artifacts...take for example the "Sphinx statue" in Giza..it was Napolean and his armies that defaced this great monument so that they could remove the African features that it prominently displayed. Taking guided tour of the Cairo Museum showed exactly how widespread this damage and subsequent propaganda was...even the tiny little sculptures had had their African noses, lips and even their eyes removed, for no other reason but to cover up the fact that Ancient Egyptians were indeed black Africans. Furthermore, suggesting that Ancient Egyptian had lighter skin tone is not only false but completely ridiculous. According to my modern day Egyptian guide I learned that the British Museum bleached the skin of most of the artifacts that was in display in the Cairo museum, as well as, reconstructed the missing eyes, noses and lips to resemble more European features. It's time for Hollywood to stop perpetuating the biggest lie history has ever known and accept the fact that Africa is not only the birthplace of mankind but it and it's black peoples gave society their ancient gods and religion, civilization and engineering wizardry that is beyond anyone's imagination!

You are a racialist fool, and the sphinx nose was already known to have been missing in the writings of the Arab historian al-Maqrīzī, in the 15th century.

You can read that historical account here: http://al-eman.com/Islamlib/viewchp.asp?BID=224&CID=1

reply

"Stupid is as stupid does"...perhaps consider that your source is simply propaganda! According to Vivant Denon (a French artist, writer, diplomat, author, and archaeologis) the Sphynx was perfectly in tact as early as 1798 READ: http://www.freemaninstitute.com/sphinx.htm

reply

No, the ancient Egyptians were the first to perform "restorations" on the Sphinx. By the time Napoleon's troops arrived the face was gone and it was mostly buried in sand.

Just because you visited Egypt doesn't make you an expert.

Did you also stay at a Holiday Inn?

Sub-Saharan Africans and North Africans are genetically very different.

The nose of the Great Sphinx was destroyed long before Napoleon and his armies ever arrived there. It was defaced by a Mohammedan who did not like the idol worship of the locals to the Sphinx. Also it was probably made in the image of Khafra, whose statue still exists:

Although you'll probably think that's a Negro because of the color, lol.

This Roman general was a Negro too!

People who argue that the Egyptians were anything other than mixed race or a diverse group of people are small minded and lack critical thinking skills.

reply

THANK YOU...stop talking about skin color..YES Egypt is part of Africa and take great pride in that fact & don't get caught up in skin tone. Face it folks, the closer you are to port cities/trade routes, skin tone will alter due to contact w/northern/eastern peoples over time..but EGYPT is still African.

reply

A problem with your logic and the poster you replied to is thinking that Arabs in north Africa today are indigenous. Middle Eastern groups invaded the area centuries ago. That would be like calling Tom Cruise Native American. He's American by way of Europe. Arabs and white people aren't indigenous to Africa. Egypt went from African/black to white (Greek and Roman) to Arab by way of conquest.

I never saved anything for the swim back.

reply

Exactly! Egyptians were African and Middle Eastern as I wrote in another post. I'm not an Egyptologist but Egypt has always been a favorite subject and I've done my research.

Keep bringing the truth.

These people are perpetuating a fraud!

The native pharohs were Africans not British white people or even half white Indian people.

They were Africans--of varying hues but they were dark skinned people not light.

Egypt originated from the South--near the Sudan. Upper Egypt was the Southern most part of Egypt and it came way before Lower Egypt.

The majority of the people who populate the country of Egypt now are mostly the descendants of Arab invaders who came many centuries after the native Pharohs.

However, if you go to the Aswan area in Southern Egypt, you will still see darker people they call ethnic Nubians.

These ethnic Nubians are the closest to the Ancients in terms of appearance and genetics.

Stop believing lies and propaganda that stem from white supremacy.

For those afrocentric fanatics who claim that Ancient Egypt was black, I have some questions: how come there is not one subsaharan black nation that has even 1/100th the cultural patrimony of Ancient Egypt? Why is it that if the subsaharan blacks were so advanced and they created the grandor that was Ancient Egypt, how did they revert to grass huts and hunter-gatherer societies? If all knowledge came from Black Africa why is all of the rich culture concentrated in the non-black area of Africa?

reply

Its spelled grandeur.

reply

It's spelt "it's".

reply

Essentially, the Nile River is the answer. The ability to farm and grow crops separates the hunter-gatherers from those people who are first to become advanced. Once a "tribe" has solved the problem of feeding its people, the focus shifts to maintaining its "territory" (i.e. armies), studying the stars, developing a written language, law, religion, mathematics, science, architecture, medicine, etc.

It must be remembered that the complexion of Egypt 10,000 years ago was essentially black and only begins to change around 3,700 years ago as Eurasian tribes begin to migrate there (which is clearly seen today in the complexion of North African nations). Egypt however, built sophisticated pyramids and other structures before such migrations took place.

It is also important to note that ancient pyramids appear on every continent save Antarctica so we must be cautious in insisting that all sophisticated technologies originate from a specific geographic location. What we do know is that European technology tends to borrow at least some ideas from its neighbors (sometimes conquered peoples). The Romans for example, did not have an accurate calendar (10 months/year) until it was exposed to the Calendar used by Jews (12 months/year). This same migration pattern (sometimes in conquest) tended to slow the natural development of many African territories. Europe has unfortunately confiscated many African resources over the last 3,000 years (gold, diamonds, copper, wheat, people, etc.) to support its advancement and the colonialism was not unique to Africa (North/South America, Australia, India, China, etc.). Indeed, the USA itself began as 13 colonies so the established pattern has several precedents.

Modern civilization owes everything to the various agrarian empires that literally invented culture and civilization. The Euphrates river is what eventually made Babylon one of the first European empires - far more advanced than most European territories at the time.

reply

The Nile River is 4258 miles long. It's shared by by eleven countries, namely, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo-Kinshasa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt. It's interesting that of those countries the only one with a large non-black component is the one that advances to dizzying heights and creates a cultural patrimony that we are still in awe of, whereas the black nations that shared the river remained essentially hunter-gathers.

This is absolutely false. There are numerous Egyptian murals depicting light skinned (not white, more Arab like) Egyptian soldiers slaughtering black Africans. We also have numerous Roman recordings which describe the appearance of ancient Egyptians in great detail.

Stop trying to distort history.

^ This.

I normally don't reply to things like this. In fact, i just verified my account so i could post, and now i'm gonna get nerdy...

Hieroglyphs, reliefs, stelas, and other statues and works of art clearly show they were in contact with people who were ethnically different than them. They painted skin color--and by paint i mean used pigment. They used minerals for colors, thats why they have held up as they have. (ex: Red was Iron Oxide and Cinnabar. Green was Malachite. Blue was Azurite, which is a variant of Malachite. White came from the mineral gypsum and sometimes chalk. In Seti's tomb there are frescos showing Libyans (who are painted light), Nubians (who are painted black), Asiatic (who are also painted light), and Egyptians (painted brown). I'm sorry to say, even in 3500 B.C. people were differentiated by color.

As for the other stuff in this thread:

1. Egyptians are native African, yes. Egypt is IN Africa, on the Mediterranean coast, with deserts bordering the Middle East. Now, i'm generalizing here -- so forget specific hereditary DNA for just a second (because yes, that does play a part in what makes you you, but that's not my point), skin pigment is mostly dependent on how close you are to the equator. The higher the UVR in the area, the more melanin in your skin, period. Its cellular.

2. This "bleaching artifacts" nonsense - the only "bleaching" that was done, was done by the sun -- Travertine was used for small statuettes and shawabti figures, canopic and unguent jars, vases of manyforms, bowls and dishes, offering tables and paving stones. They also used it for life-size and colossal statue, sarcophagi, embalming beds and shrines. From the quarries and statuary, the sun bleaching phenomenon with this particular stone is well documented. The British had little to do with it. In fact, by 1859, much of the artifacts from new discoveries were in the care of the Department of Antiquities (Its changed names since then, now it's the SCA). They set boundaries for archeologists. They are the ONLY agents allowed to restore and preserve Egyptian monuments/artifacts. The first bunch of directors were French, then the Egyptians took over, not British. They also worked hard to recover those lost, sold, and stolen artifacts (a task they are still trying to do this to this day!) They required Archeologist to report ALL discoveries before publication - a rule which got some archeologists expelled from Egypt -- including Howard Carter. The SCA took over the excavation of Tut's tomb for a period of time. Although, Pierre Lacau eventually did let him come back and continue his work. Archeologists and Museums do not alter or destroy ancient relics, they do their best to preserve them.

3. About Napoleon's men - Just no. The truth is NO ONE actually knows what happened to the nose, lips, and ear of the sphinx, but everyone had an opinion on it. Opinions are not facts. One person's opinion on what the damaged face looks like is going to be different than the next persons. And if you look at artists renderings through the ages from 1500's-1800's, you can see clear differences in all of them. Time, weathering, sun, sand, and the particular artists perspective all played a part, most of egyptology is hypothesis anyway -- and that change with every new discovery.

The Freeman Institute was created by Dr. Joel Freeman to sell books, DVDs and speaking seminars. He's in the business of selling his services as a motivational speaker so he'll say just about anything you pay him to.

For all the hype Dr. Freeman isn't very forthcoming about his education or credentials. I don't consider E! Entertainment, the NBA, Comcast, Verizon or Fox News to be particularly noteworthy when it comes to educational credentials. For all you know, he has a PhD in literature like Dr. Laura. I could be in Who's Who too if I paid them.

Since I am a national board certified librarian with TWO master's degrees, I'll do a little digging for you.

Oh, he was a CHAPLAIN for the NBA. That PhD could be in Divinity. Sure doesn't qualify him as an archeologist or historian. He get's $12,000 - $15,000 a pop for a motivational speech. There's money in Black History so he's added that to his list of topics along with Retreat Facilitation, Keynote Addresses, Reality-Based Organizational Culture Change, Executive Success Coaching, Critical Incident Debriefings, Diversity (Diversity Day) & Cultural Awareness, Entrepreneurship, Business Intelligence and Creativity. He's basically a clown for hire.

He went to Loyola but there is no disclosure as to what he received his PhD in.

BINGO! Psychology and counseling. Yeah, that's sure an expert on ancient Egypt. He probably stayed at a Holiday Inn once too.

I suggest if you want to keep citing this clown as a reference you add three more reliable sources. Try ones that end in "edu".

so black people went to egypt....built pyramids and left....and went back to being a poor nation. you are a card.

reply

Actually there were a lot of African civilizations throughout history.

The fact that there are people like you who believe that Africa is and has always been a network of mud huts and tribes, even though no historians have ever said that, really shows how easy it is for ignorance to spread.

All it takes is for you to type "Ancient African Kingdoms" onto Google to confirm if all this crap you're spewing is true or not but you choose not to. Choosing to be ignorant is choosing to be stupid.

reply

I'll go one up: all original humans were black. We all came from Africa. So if you tell me that ancien egyptians were white or black or somewhere in between, I really don't care.

reply

Wrong, michelvega ....... Not all of us humans were BLACK. We humans DID NOT originate in AFRICA, but in ASIA. The Israelis found human jaw bones which were dated to be over 480,000 years OLDER than those found in AFRICA. Do your research! And, if some of us did come from AFRICA ...... what makes you think that all AFRICANS were black?

reply

I'm talking of our species: Homo sapiens.DNA evidence has placed the cradle of Mankind around Namibia and Angola 200,000 years ago. As to whether all original Africans were black or not, what I've said for ancient egyptians goes for the whole world: I don't give a damn about the color of a person's skin. Tatoos don't do much for me though.

You need to visit a museum that displays authentic Egyptian artifacts. I live in New York City where I have access to the Egyptian collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I've also visited Egyptian museums in such disparate places as Brooklyn (second largest art museum in America) and Torino (largest Egyptian museum in Europe). If you look at the paintings the Egyptians did of themselves, you will see that they depicted themselves as brown (the females, however, are depicted in a lighter shade), looking pretty much the way they do today. When they did depict sub-Saharan Africans, they are shown as black, just the way they look today. This is not racism; this is fact. See for yourself. You can probably find examples online.

Actually, *your* source is simply propaganda.

Dr. Freeman is a psychologist who charges $12,000 - $15,000 for motivational speeches. That website is to sell himself, his DVDS and books. It is hardly a reliable citation.

colinrusselljoseph; Typical Afro-Centric propaganda which has been rejected by Egyptian Scholars and historical evidence. Stop trying to piggy-back the mud hut culture of the Africans upon one of the first truly great civilizations. This is just another example of a cultural inferiority complex.
