First, I'm a huge fan of Ancient History, regardless if it is Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Assyria, etc. I loved the old HBO Rome series. The characterization, the sets, the clothing were all top notch and I felt like I was peering into a piece of history. Would I enjoy this series?
Can anyone recommend other comparatively recent series that I might also enjoy?

Not exactly ancient history, but Black Sails is a pretty decent look at the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean (early 1700s).
It's about as graphic as Rome in the the sex and violence departments.
The acting, sets, and especially the writing, are all top notch.
It's a little more fiction though...as it mixes the fictional characters of Treasure Island (decades before the book though) with the real characters of Nassau.

I agree with harv. Maybe check out Black Sails. Great looking show, and has given me a huge interest in looking into the golden age of piracy.
I havent seen Tut yet. Only just found out about this.
